Not Knowing (Black Butler)

The demon looked down at the boy staring intently outside. "There's a quote from an old author. He said, "Let us live so that when we die, even the undertaker shall be sorry.""

The boy glanced at him and chuckled lightly. "No undertaker shall pity me. We both know this."

He come to stand at his master's side, and looked out the window.

The garden was especially gorgeous with afternoon. Sunlight streamed down, filtered through large, puffy clouds that moved lazily across the sky. Large-breasted robins flitted through the air from tree to tree. Every blade of grass moved against its neighbor in a dance of the wind, creating a thousand shades of green. It was beautiful.

"I suppose so," he said. "But you never know."

Ceil gave him a strange look before staring outside again. "Yes," he replied softy.
