Liam
June 17th, it's been 5 years since my parents died from a car accident, the accident that turned my perfect little life into a living nightmare that I can't wake up from. My mom used tell me that no matter what happens, she will always be here but I don't think that I believe that anymore.
Every year on this day I go to the flower market to get a dozen lilies, I remember we used to have a garden in our backyard filled with flowers and every morning me and my dad would go there and water the plants. I used to hate waking up so early to do garden chores but now I would do anything to have one more second with them.
Beep—Beep—Beep. The taxi halted after almost hitting someone. I look around and I realize that I'm at the Langford cemetery. "This is my stop." I paid the fare, grabbed the lilies and got out of the cab.
The place haven't change a bit since my last visit. The sunset makes it darker than it normally is. You can hear the leaves fall from the trees as a gush of wind passes through and the sense of peace and serenity fills the air. If this wasn't the cemetery I would have loved to hang out here.
"Hey Liam!" Mr. Jackson, the caretaker of the cemetery is good friends with my parents before they died, so I waved back. Before I could continue walking he signals me to talk so I walked over.
"Is there anything I could help you with Mr. Jackson?"
"No, I called you because your father's gravestone started to crack and you might want to get it fixed, before it gets any worse." He has always been really nice and he gets along with a lot of people including my grandma who could be a little rude so that's saying a lot. He's also around the same age of grandma and if I'm not mistaken they used to go to the same high school, Willindale High.
"Really? What about mom's?" He shakes his head no. "Thanks for letting me know and it would be great if you have someone repair it. Anyways, I should get going before it gets later, grandma has me under timeout."
"Cora and her strict rules, anyways tell her I said hi."
"Will do."
I start walking towards the back near the family crypts and there I find them. Mr. Jackson was right, if the crack doesn't get fixed the whole gravestone might crack in half.
I sit next to them as I put the flowers down while I remember the fun time we used to have, back when Zoey still stayed with us but now she is in college and I haven't seen her for almost a year.
I try to think of the good days but all I could remember is what happened that night. It was a dark and stormy night and Zoey snuck out of the house to go to a party at her friend's lake house, which is on the other side of town. Mom and dad decided to drag her back home. The roads were slippery and later that night we receive news that their car fell off a cliff and they landed on Lake Galvin. I know that Zoey still blames herself for what happened and that what really sucks. I didn't just lose my parents from that tragedy but also my sister. I just miss them so much.
