"where are you staying" murphy asked as he and connor took my bags from me
"i was going to rent a room down the street since i just got in and havent looked for any apartments yet" i said as i attempted to help carry one of the bags the connor had but he gave me the look of dont even try. and so did murphy
"or you could stay with us since you dont know anyone here in boston" connor said as we turned a corner
"i dont want to bother you guys" i said looking to them both
"oh shush its no problem. its not like we've known you forever. this will give us the chance to get to know our baby sister and keep an eye on you from any of these boys here" murphy said as he gave the classic older brother line.
"you are not going to get us to let you stay by yourself so you'll just have to deal with it." connor said as he began stepping up the stairs of an appartment building. "plus now that you know our secret we need to make sure your safe from any danger there is from people who want to get to us" he added as we got in the elevator
"oh now you guys need to shush. i can take care of myself. ive been in plenty of fights and all that." i said as the doors opened
"fights with guns? i think not." murphy said looking down at me.
"yes actually. ive been held at gun point a couple times." i said as connor opened the door to an appartment.
"why? what happened? how many times is a "couple"? and what happened" connor asked as he and murphy just looked at me with concern in their eyes
"well um twice since last friday" as i thought about what day today was. it was tuesday. that was not gonna make the worry leave their faces. four days and i was held at gun point twice. "thats what happens when people try to start fights at the bar i worked at."
"okay well lets leave that topic before murphy and i die of a heartattack at the age of 27." connor said as he put down my bags where murphy had just placed the others.
"so what is it that led our long lost baby sister to boston here in the states?" murphy asked as we all sat down. i on the couch with murphy next to me on my left and connor sitting on the arm on my right
"well im attending a few tryouts for celtic step dancing companies and bands here" i said as they looked at me with wide eyes
"you flew all the way here just to do that when you have it all there in Ireland?" they both asked at the same time
"most companies there go to other places to look for their members and also i wanted to see boston" i left out the part about knowing they were here and how badly i wanted to find them. something on my face gave away i was not telling them everything
"and what else? i can see that look on your face that is basically screaming that your not saying everything" connor said as he gave me a light shove as he smiled down at me.
"fine i also talked to mom-" something on murphys face made me stop
"you found mom? she has been looking for you since you were about 10 years old"he said with amazement
"she found me and told me how you guys were here and i decided that since i haven't ever met you guys in the 21 years in my life that i wasn't gonna give up. ive been looking for mom and you guys since i was 14 years old. and i was about to give up until she called me before work one day. and we met up and talked the next two weeks. then i told her how i was going to go to boston to finally meet you guys." i said as i looked down. as i was looking down i started to tear up and then murphy pulled me over a bit so that connor could sit on the couch as they both wrapped me in a hug.
"mom never knew but once we turned 14 we decided to start looking for you too." connor said as he pulled away as he and murphy both laughed and smiled down at me.
"okay okay stop making fun of me crying." i said as i pushed both of them and then they both attacked me with pillows. "alright alright i give!" i said as i wiped away the tears streaming down my face as i laughed.
we sat around for a few more hours talking and goofing off. around eight at night connor stood up saying he was gonna go grab us a pizza. after he left me and murphy started to talk some more.
"so what kind of things were you into in highschool, gillian?" i was about to speak when we heard yelling and then connor ran back in the room.
"quick, gillian go into the shower and stay there" he whispered to me as he and murphy both kissed my head. i jumped in the shower and closed the curtain as i sat in the corner.
i heard the door get kicked in and then gun shots and yelling. i covered my ears and squezed my eyes shut. earlier it was different since there was one guy and he didnt yell now there was loud yelling and more than one guy. after another five minutes all the noise stopped but i didnt move until i felt arms around me. i looked and saw connor kneeling beside me. he pulled me up and just held me in a tight hug as i sobbed into his chest. i was scared shitless of all that had just happened, all the yelling and gun shots. a few seconds later murphy came running in and connor let go alittle as he passed me off to murphy.
"stay with her"connor whispered thinking i couldnt hear him. "ill go take care of the bodies." with that he ran out as murphy held me in a hug just like connors as he rubbed my back kissing the top of my head every once in a while.
after i stopped crying i began to fall asleep. connor came in and nodded to murphy letting him know that it was all clear. he looked down at me and saw that i was almost asleep so he just picked me up and carried me to one of the beds.
"ill sleep on the couch. tomorrow ill go pick up another bed" connor said as he pulled a blanket over me. "she's just alittle shocked she'll be fine. i can tell." i heard him say to murphy since he still held one of my hands.
"do you think she will stay after what happened tonight?" murphy asked.
"i hope so. we'll find out in the morning now get some sleep."connor told murphy as he bend down and kissed my forehead "i really do hope she stays" he said as murphy walked to the bathroom.
a few minutes later murphy came in and bent down and kissed my forehead like connor had done not that long ago "i really do wish you chose to stay. i wouldn't like being away from my little sister" with that he went and layed down in his bed.
i thought for a minute and decided it would be best for them and myself if i did stay that way they didnt worry and so i would know that they were real and not just a dream. with that i fell asleep as i thought of their reaction when they first realized who i was. they were so happy that they just engulfed me in a hug. how could i not want to stay with my brothers after finding out how much they cared even though they hardly knew me.
