It was a hot summer night when Nyx decided that she wasn't in the mood for her friend's dumbness. Drinking, doing drugs, having sex... It wasn't her favourite lifestyle. She has always been the goody-two-shoes type of person who never gets in trouble. She has the ability to avoid it and never gets caught in case she messes up... Quite useful when you are usually the clumsiest person to ever exist on Earth...

Due to her nerdy personality, she was ignored by her peers and always made fun of in school. She didn't care though. She had major dreams and goals to achieve than being accepted by people whose only motivation in life was getting laid and look perfect. She has never been a show-off, so nobody really knew her. However, she had a reduced group of people, probably close enough to call friends, that had always been there for her. She was grateful, really, but she knew better than to thoughtlessly call someone a friend... She had been stabbed in the back before and she knew she wouldn't be able to go through the same again.

She was happy. At least that's how she felt. If you asked her, she would always say she was, even when she had tears threatening to come out. But even then, she could feel the happiness at the bottom of her heart.

But everybody changes. Well, not exactly change. Let's say we evolve. Right, yeah, that sounds better. People never stop evolving throughout their lives. And right now, Nyx was experiencing one of the biggest evolutions in her life. She became 20 and she felt more adult-like. Not that she was extremely immature before, but she now realised how childish her friends were... And she didn't want to deal with that tonight. So, she didn't reply to the thousands of messages on her phone from the WhatsApp group she had with her friends.

Jellyfish Gang was again ringing non-stop. Yes, that was the name of the group. Stupid, right? Just a piece of advice, if you have a friend that is completely in love with Sponge Bob, don't ever let her be in charge of the group updates... It will never turn out well, NEVER.

Suddenly, all she could hear was silence... Finally, she thought. She could now enjoy her night without her annoying friends calling and messaging her about the plans or how important it was for her to meet them and go partying. Don't misunderstand her, she loved hanging out with her friends and loved the parties they threw, it's just that she wasn't feeling like it. She was tired and had a subtle migraine from all the hours she had spent binge watching her favourite anime for the 4th time... Yes, nerdy material, but it was one of her little pleasures along with eating, singing, dancing and drawing.

She has always been interested in see things differently from how others looked at them, she enjoyed being different and she was proud of it; as if it was one of her unique characteristics. And it was, really, as nowadays people tend to go mainstream and judge individuality and originality. And that night, she had no expectations of going out or even talking to any of her friends. All she needed was some alone time to rest and to think things for a bit. She was overwhelmed with University and her part-time job in the café. She hadn't had some time for herself in a long time, and she needed it.

She was in her bedroom, the biggest room in the house, bigger than the kitchen and the living room. She had her favourite chips and her favourite pair of pyjamas on; nothing would stop her from enjoying that night.

This is my first story, so sorry if the plot is not interesting, I didn't plan anything for the story, I just write as I feel. However, there is a theme to the story, so it will hopefully end coherently... I decided to cut the chapter in half because I was running out of ideas and I hate writing without inspiration. That, and also because my mom actually came while I was in my break and cut all source of inspiration that was still flowing... So, 'til the next update.

Before I log out, if you have any questions about anything, leave a comment and I will answer as soon as possible. Also, the first few chapters will talk about the context of the story. Afterwards, we will be able to plunge into the action.

Thanks for reading this shitty story... And just so you know, no, English is not my first language. I just find it easier to write and express myself in this language as I'm used to read and listen to motivational stories, books and songs in this language... Strange, right? :) ;)
