The Hidden Hand

The Winds Of Change

Saba Technologies, New York.

The world had given what The Hand had been looking for, the final piece to the device the group had found way back in 1773 were all this had begun. The last piece was in New York, underground in an old and long abandoned part of the New York Subway System, it was found to be located in an abandoned station near city hall forgotten to time and thankfully untouched. The current CEO of Saba Technologies, Sabastian Carter a descendant of the original leader of The Hand and current leader of the secret organisation planned to use access tunnels underneath the tower to head towards the site of the piece.

The problem that Sabastian faced was the Crimson Union, The Hands enemy and corporate rival, the leader of the Crimson Union, Anthony Franklyn a descendant of the leading former soldier from world war two had been tracking The Hands movements for the past year and with the difference in technologies it made it hard to counter Crimson Union. The only upside was that a failure in the power grid caused by The Hand was stopping the Crimson Union from stopping the final step for The Hand,
"Any news on Crimson Union?" Sabastian questioned his men 
"they still seem to be stuck in the chaos we caused around Central Park sir" Sabastian's second in command Andrew Williams  answers
"then we move now before they can clear the chaos" Sabastian states heading towards the elevator to his office
"yes sir, we have two teams ready to move as well, the power grid failure allowed us to cut power to the subway lines, so trains aren't a problem" Andrew explains
"good work Andrew, now let us finish what our founders started all those years ago" Sabastian says with an evil glint in his eyes
"the total control of the worlds population" Andrew states matching the evil glint in his eyes adding a small smirk as well. Andrew presses the sub level button of the elevator and the elevator descends towards the tunnels underneath the tower.

Crimson Corporate, Upper Manhattan.
The news that a power failure had trapped some of his men in gridlock, didn't sit well with Anthony Franklyn, in fact he knew exactly what this meant, it meant that after all these years that The Hand had found the last piece to their device. The last piece meant the end of the world as everyone knew it, the change had come but faster then he thought it would,
"are we any closer to figuring out where The Hand are going?" Anthony questions his men
"yes sir, there is movement from the building, underground movement" one of the men answer
"heading in which direction?" Anthony questions
"towards lower Manhattan sir" the man answers
"they must have found the last piece, we need to stop them" Anthony says
"traffic gridlock is blocking most of our agents sir" another man states
"then we will travel via the subway network" Anthony states as his men nod and he moves towards an elevator at the back of the room
"they appear to be bound for city hall sir" another man states
"of all the places, alright keep me updated on their movements" Anthony says as he presses a button to take him down to the lower levels of the building.

A few minutes later Anthony arrives in the basement level of the building, facing a door leading to the maintenance tunnels that lead to the subway tunnels under the city. The Hand had a head start on him since they were located in lower Manhattan but that would not stop him, The Hand could not be allowed to enact their plan. Anthony made his way to the door and down the corridor of the maintenance tunnels, even with the power grid down it would be a long journey but that was why he had a team with him and as if right on que they arrived behind him as he made his way towards the subway tunnels and his only clear path to city hall.

City Hall, Lower Manhattan.
The Hand had arrived not so long after leaving their headquarters a few streets away, they arrived at a split in the tracks one part leading off towards the current City Hall station and the other part leading into the long since abandoned platforms. Walking into the abandoned section they were greeted with the decaying ruins of the old subway line, the platforms having broken into a rubble ramp leading up to each side of the station.

Moving forwards they moved to the centre of the station atrium, Sabastian moved the device above his head and aimed at the right side first to which nothing happened and the device didn't glow, moving it to the left however made it glow bright prompting The Hand to move to the eastbound platform. Making their way onto the platform the centre began to glow in the outline of a circle before more strange patterns glowed from around the station platform, the circle then jolted down before slide open to the left as a platform with a pedestal in the middle rose in its place. On the pedestal was what they were after and what would complete the device, the last piece, Sabastian moved forwards and picked up the piece before adding it to the device which glowed brighter before the room turned darker, they had succeeded but the sound of fast paced foot steps could be heard as power returned to the city, the still functional lights of the decaying station turning on and the sound of the tracks traction current activating could be heard.

The Crimson Union members arrived at a maintenance door as the power to New York returned and the traction current to the entire subway network reactivated, the maintenance door was open and so they walked through and towards the location of The Hand. As they came out onto the Westbound platforms an express train passed through, which after leaving revealed an empty room, The Hand had just left but there were multiple exits to the station which meant they could now be anywhere. Anthony knew though that now The Hand had the completed device they needed to stop them before they could activate it and succeed in their plans, and the only way to do that was to get into Saba Technologies Headquarters in Lower Manhattan. The feeling of a dark foreboding event could be felt through all the members present, the end was coming but no one knew when it was coming.
