It was a long night. I could not risk having any more nightmares, nor could a risk getting caught in the halls. I was stuck, sitting in a dark room and staring at the brick walls that surrounded me. When the first lights of dawn shone through the window, I was about ready to pass out, but I was thankful that my waiting was over.
"Did you sleep at all?" Melody asked.
It was breakfast and all I had consumed for the past half hour was cup after cup of coffee.
"I was not tired," I said simply.
"Well you better hope that feeling lasts because Master Jake won't be happy otherwise."
I smiled faintly. In all honesty, I was exhausted but I would have to pretend, if only for the day. I could not bare to let the other girls down as I had done the day before.
"There you are," Harmony rushed in, "Angel, Master Jake has requested for you to bring his breakfast. He's impatient today."
At the mention of Master Jake, my stomach twisted. It must have been evident as Harmony's face softened.
"You said yourself, it can't be avoided," she sighed, "If I could, I would go for you, but you know how he is."
I stood up and grabbed the tray which held Master Jake's food, "I know. I need to face the consequences of my actions. I have been putting it off for too long already."
"I'm sorry," Harmony said.
"Don't be," I shook my head. I had heard those words too many times over the last day, from myself and others. It was time that I faced the problem.
"Good luck," Melody spoke up.
"Thank you," I looked back one last time before exiting.
It was a short walk to Master Jake's room. I was almost thankful as I knew a longer one would give me time to show my cowardice tendencies. As I stood at the large doors, contemplating how I should knock or if I should just walk in, Master Jake spoke up.
"Dear Lord, just come in!" He yelled, "Your indecision is infuriating!"
I bowed my head and entered, "Sorry, Master Jake, it will not happen again."
"You apologize too much," Master Jake sneered, "And your thoughts are too loud, I could hear them from all the way down the hall."
I stayed silent this time, unsure of what to do. Master Jake was right about my indecisiveness, and my apologies. He was right about most things and that was terrifying.
"Well?" Master Jake raised an eyebrow, "My breakfast?"
"Ah yes," I hurried over with the tray, placing it lightly on Master Jake's bedside table. I had to refrain from muttering another quick apology.
"You're expecting me to speak to you of the... incident," Master Jake stated.
I swallowed loudly, "I am."
"You don't need to confirm what we both know to be fact," Master Jake sighed, clearly exasperated, "I considered many options as to how I'd discipline you, Slave."
My stomach dropped. This was the moment I'd been dreading. Perhaps I would get lucky and be locked away for a week. The other girls had mentioned being locked in a room without food or light. It seemed like a small feet compared to what I was sure Master Jake could think up, if given a reason to. I was beginning to regret not having breakfast though.
"I have considered many options," Master Jake repeated, "but I have made the decision to practice mercy."
I looked up at Master Jake in confusion. Mercy was not a word I had imagined in his dialect, and although I knew Master Jake was rarely one for jokes, I could not allow myself to believe what he was saying.
"That being said," Master Jake continued, "I expect you will appreciate this act of mercy and use that appreciation to stop these occurrences in the future."
I was silent for a moment, completely awestruck by what was happening. This was not the Master Jake I knew, nor the one I had been warned of. This was nothing like anything my mind could understand. I was only able to spit out a very shaky, "thank you," before quickly making my way back to the servants quarters to think over what had happened.

This is really short.... Sorry :/
Pretty much, I know I've been crappy about updates so I wanted to get something out there for those of you who were commenting and such. I keep getting caught up with things and when I'm not I get writers block and it's all very annoying and this is a run on sentence so what I'm really trying to say here is I'm super duper sorry and I'll try to update more and write stuff but I can't really make any promises.
Yeah.
Anywho, this is chapter 8 and I hope you like it (honestly, I'm a little iffy about the writing).
Thanks for dealing with me!! :)
