Inferno

Chapter 11

                What...? Where? Where the hell am I? Oh my god its so bright, what? I try to open my eyes fully but its too bright, i squint and look around, im still dizzy from having had just woken up so everything looks like it has an echo. I giggle, sight having echos? Thats silly. I close my eyes back and regain myself so im not as dizzy and look around again, its warm here, i can feel the sun warming my skin and when i look around i see lots of sand everywhere and trees a little further back, and oh shit is that a volcano?! I decide to turn my head the other way despite the pain that i feel jolting down my spine as i do, and all i see is a vast sea of blue waves. "How the hell did i get here?"  I wonder alloud to myself. "Whelp if im going to survive id better get started, i wonder though, do my powers work here?" I try to warm my hands but it still hurts because of the still healing scars on my hands, they warm but i cant get them to catch fire, but at least i can still keep myself warm during the night. I smile, at least i was dropped somewhere lovely, i feel the warm sand beneath my feet and the sun on my skin as i hear birds and other creatures in the dense forest in front of me and waves crashing in the beautiful ocean behind me.  I feel in my jacket and notice that at least i still have my signature blade, which i have taken to calling Fang.  i smile as i grip the blade in my hand and head out into the dense forest.  It immediately darkened and i looked up into the sky to see clouds forming above me, damn those came in fast. I start to hear what sounds like whispering and i look around, aware of the sudden silence from the animals, something spooked them. I've better get into the trees, and fast, good thing im a good climber.  I start to panic as the low whispering gets louder and closer and i feel a pain in the my back where my neck meets my back, i've had the feeling a few times before and never really thought much of it until now.  Its only now that i realize that the pain has only happened when danger was around.  Once im up the tree a safe distance i see a dark shadow with a billowing robe drifting through the dangerous forest. It stops in front of my tree for a moment and i stop breathing, terrified.  Then it slowly moves on and once its a safe distance away i allow myself to breath.  Then i hear an inhumane noise, a mix between a scream, and a roar, but it almost sounded birdlike.  i was terrified to say the least.  I take a shaky breath and thats when i hear the worst sound of it all.  The sound of flesh being torn from bone. Then the sound of bone being torn from bone, the crunching and the ripping shounds were sickening.  Just when i thought i couldnt take it anymore, it finally stoppped.  i waited another 10 minutes after the sound returned to the forest until i found it was safe enough to get down from the tree and grab an animal to cook for dinner.  I also have to search for drinkable water. Damn this will be harder than i thought. I cautiously walk a little bit deeper into the forest before i find a snake slithering below my feet. I jump back "Shit!" I look at it again though and realize that its large but its luckily not venemous, i decide that this will be my dinner.  I drop down with record speed and take the snakes head right  off and walk it back to the beach, laying it there, then i go back in and look around again and realize that this isnt a place that follows the laws of nature well. It looks almost like a jungle mixed with a forest, what a strange sight! I use Fang to chop down some of the branches off of the trees to use as fire wood then i grab some of the inexplicable Bamboo sticks and some of the overly large leaves, and a couple vines as an afterthought.  I struggle to carry everything back to where i am keepign the snake and start to set up camp.  I lay all the sticks down and heat up my hands to the point where i cant make fire but i can make a couple sparks which im able to use to light the sticks on fire, i run over to the ocean and fill up the leaf with some of the water then put two bamboo sticks on either side of the fire then i tie the leaf to the bamboo so its hanging just above the fire.  I leave the water there to boil and go to set up some shelter.  I put four bamboo sticks in a square then i tie the leaves around them only leaving a small space facing my fire as the door.  I step out of the shelter and notice its getting dark so i put my snake in the boiling water and when its finish i tear through its rough meat. I settle down in the warm sand of the tent that i made when i hear the scream and the tearing of flesh again, but this time, its sounded alot closer to my tent. This is going to be a long night.
