Chapter 4: The Surgery

It was the morning of her plastic surgery. She was sitting in the kitchen watching Bucky eat his breakfast. They both looked up when the elevator dinged. Cooper walked in with another gentlemen looking built like Cooper.

Bucky wiped his mouth "Elliana..this is Noah he is going to be your driver when we aren't together. Like today he is going to be driving you to your surgery and keeping me updated with Dr Stark's updates of your surgery."

Tears started to well as she said "oh..so it will be like last week."

"You need to get going Elliana you are to check in by 8 am." He said as he looked at his watch.

"Of course." She said as she looked down.

She ran upstairs to her wing of the penthouse. She got her coat and came back downstairs. She hid her tears by keeping her head down. She followed Noah onto the elevator.

She wiped tears and sniffled. ."Ms Baylor is everything okay?" Noah said

"Everything is great." She said as she choked back tears.

They walked into the parking garage he opened up the door to a black Mercedes Benz SUV. She got in and continued to wipe tears. It didn't bother her as much the Friday before when she had her Lasik done.

But this was different she was being put to sleep. She was having major surgery and she felt like he didn't even care. They arrived at the hospital she got her bracelets and sat down in the waiting room to be called back.

She pulled her knees up to her chest and started to cry more quietly. Bucky arrived at the office. "Cooper..did Noah get her there on time?"

"Yes sir. He said she seems upset though she has been crying the whole time." Cooper said

"Crying? Why is she upset?" Bucky said in a confused tone.

"He doesn't know. Anytime he asks her if everything is okay she says she is fine. But she is currently sitting with her knees to her chest with her head down in the waiting room." Cooper said

Bucky sighed.

"Go check on her please. I have things here I have to deal with." He said

"Yes sir." Cooper said

Cooper left Bucky's office and took off towards the hospital. He found Noah and Elliana still waiting.

"Noah go take a smoke break." Cooper said

Noah got up and left them. "Ellie.." Cooper said

She looked up and swallowed hard. He handed her a tissue "What's wrong?"

"Its nothing..I just wish I had someone that actually cared about if I die or not here. Not two security guards no offense." She said

"Elliana Baylor." The nurse said

She got up and followed the nurse. Cooper sat back and whispered "Damn it Mr Barnes."

He walked out and made the phone call. Bucky answered it.

"Did you find out what has her so upset?" Bucky said

"Yeah and you aren't going to like her answer. She said that she wishes that she had someone here that actually cared about if she died or not instead of me and Noah. Then she was called back." Cooper said

Bucky looked down.

"She will be fine I trust Dr Stark she needs to not be so dramatic." He said then hung up.

He was in meetings for most of the morning. Elliana woke up in recovery to Noah and Cooper. She rolled her eyes and looked away from them. A few hours later Noah took her home.

She told Bucky's maid Judy that she would eat before Bucky got home. When Bucky arrived home an hour later "where is Elliana?" He said

"She ate an hour ago. She has been up in her room this whole time. I have been helping her keep ice packs on her breasts to help with the swelling." Judy said

"Thank you Judy." He said

He finished up his plate he took off his tie and rolled up his sleeves. He went upstairs to her room to find her sleeping. He saw her tear stains "my baby" he whispered then he kissed her head.

The next morning she sat down at breakfast. She kept her head down and stayed quiet. Bucky kept looking over at her as he ate his food.

She finished her plate and walked back to her room. Bucky finished up his food then went up to her room. He laid beside her and she looked away.

"Dont do that." He said as he turned her back to face him.

He caresssed her cheek. "My baby please don't act like this. I have to be at the office. I had meetings all day yesterday it isn't that I dont care. I do the guys kept me updated.." he said

"You couldn't reschedule them. I needed you James its not comforting when I wake up to two security guards. I was scared to death yesterday I had no one nobody there to hold my hand and tell me that it was going to be okay. Or have someone walk beside my bed as they took me back. Do you have any idea how embarassing that is? To feel like nobody cares if I never wake up." She said

"Elliana I have a multi billion company to run. I don't have time to do that stuff." He said

She rolled her head to look away. She wiped tears as he said "Elliana ..I"

"Just go I want to be alone. I will have Judy help me if I need something." She said as she looked down.

"Elliana." He said as he tried to wipe the the tears that fell down her cheeks.

He got up "I will leave you be for now. When I come back hopefully you will be a little bit more understanding that I have a job." He slammed the door as he walked out.

Bucky went into his bedroom to get ready to go to the country club to golf with his friends. Just like the night before she ate dinner alone. Judy helped her change her bandages and put on a compression bra. She took her medicine and went to sleep.

Bucky came back home he got showered and changed. He sat down to his plate but didnt see hers. "Is Ms Baylor okay?"

"Yes she ate an hour ago. I changed her bandages and helped her with her compression bra. She toom her medicine and went to sleep." Judy said

"Oh.." he said

He went upstairs to her room and laid beside her. He watched her sleep for a few hours then went to his bedroom.
