Animated webisodes premiered October 1st, 2015
The third final tv special, that wasn't a mashup of webisodes, aired on Disney Channel March 25, 2016.
The Series launched with dolls,books, webisodes, and music. Plus with a rich company to back them up, what could go wrong?!?
Everything!
The doll lineup at the start was decent. The important five, Sage,Libby,Vega,Leona,And Scarlet got starland deluxe dolls. Two characters who didn't have star land looks got wishworld looks, Piper and Cassie. While Sage and scarlet both got wishworld dolls.
But the important five were repeated and repeated again. Same dolls, no new outfits, no new hair. They were released with stands, rings, books, and instruments and I'm probably forgetting some. Sage got two new dolls eventually, one with a new, simple purple dress that came with a stage. And was part of the Sparkle Rock line. Which didn't have any new outfits for the rest of them. Sage also get a pet doll with was only available at Toys R Us. Along with Cassie, who got a starland look. Libby and Leona were supposed to get wishworld looks. But they were never released. Piper still had no starland look. And vega never even was considered to have a wishworld doll. Astra,Tessa,Gemma,Adora,Clover, still got no dolls!
You have 12 characters. Each have a unique starland look and an wishworld look, plus unique personalites and zodiac signs!. That's 24 dolls. 24! They could've made even more by adding Opheila and Vivica. Maybe a 2 pack of Aerabelle and Violetta. A collecter edition Lady Stella and Rancora. Throw in Ganymede and Leebeau as Target Exclusives. Add Mira! They could've released 33 dolls that people would want to collect. Plus the SDs have loads more outfits in the books!

The important five got most of the attention and dialogue. Cassie got a bit. Piper had an important role at the ending (power of twelve). And clover had only one line in the show. (Dear Libby)
The rest got super short Cilps, where they didn't speak at all, accept for Gemma. In the power of 12. Each of them got at least one line of dialogue. Accept for clover.
They probably did it because they couldn't focus on all 12. But since there was 12 episodes, couldn't each episode focus on each of them? After a few episodes they started to became fillers anyway, but still.
The books probably were the best part of the brand. Each character got a book. Their was character development, good messages. Plot twists and drama! And a bit of good old fashioned shipping.
Last book released was Stealing Starlight. It started some hype about Vivica and her being Rancora's protege and a dark starling. 3 NEW books were supposed to be released. But they NEVER came out!

It seemed that Disney was busy with bigger franchises. Like Descendants, which just ended. Disney Fairies was also okay I guess. I heard a NEW MOVIE was planned to be released. Disney princesses is definitely not gonna end soon. And frozen will still go strong.
Music videos were great! The songs that got videos was Wish Now, Up, And Starlight. None of them feature the other girls, of course.
Your Are Strong, was a song that debuted in the power of twelve. Yet didn't get a full version at least.
Other songs from the books, were "When We Shine" and "I'm more"
COME ON! DISNEY YOUR RICH! WHY CANT YOU CONTINUE THIS POTENTIAL MASTERPIECE! YES, SHANA ZAPPA DID SAY ON TWITTER THAT ITS ON HOLD FOR AN EXCITING REASON! BUT GIVE US A GOSH-DARN RELEASE DATE SO OUR FAVORITE SHOW CAN RISE FROM THE DEAD! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES THIS BRAND RIGHT?!?! DID DISNEY BLOW OFF ALL THEIR AFFECTION AND MONEY DOING DESCENDANTS 1 AND 2?!?! DID THEY HAVE TO PUT THE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT ON HOLD TOO?!?! AND THERE'S STILL UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, I WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROPHECY BEHIND THE DARLINGS!
