It was cold up in the mountains. Really cold. Not that Jack felt it. He was often making snowballs and throwing them at Hiccup and Merida, who were glancing at each over smiling. Rapunzel was playing with Pascal, trying her hardest to ignore Jack as he continued playing.

“Toothless has been sleeping for too long… I’ll see if I can wake him.” Hiccup said, trying to keep his worry out of his voice. He still felt a little bit lost without his book, and Toothless had been sleeping for hours.

“No. Let him sleep. It would be no good if we woke him up and he was still too weak.” Jack told him before throwing a snow ball at the Viking.

“Toothless is fine. He’s probably exhausted.” Merida said, and Rapunzel looked over at Hiccup smiling.

“Pascal thinks he knows something.” Rapunzel followed her chameleon as he crawled around the ground, and found something made of leather.

“Oh my goodness! Thank you!” Hiccup exclaimed as he picked up his note book  and examined every page.

“You’re welcome.”

“Wait, one of the pages was ripped out. It’s… The one of home.” Hiccup whispered and he fell to the floor, the book falling on his lap. It was obvious, the rip in it.

“Who would do such a thing?” Merida asked, running up to comfort him.

“I… It could… It could have been the wind?” Hiccup asked, trying to ignore the thought that everyone had on their minds. Pitch.

“Just admit it Hiccup. The only one who would do such a thing is Pitch.” Jack snapped and Hiccup sighed. Rapunzel glared at the ice boy as Merida tried her best to comfort Hiccup.

“I’m fine Merida. You don’t need to crowd me.” Hiccup told Merida while Jack cowered away from Rapunzel’s scolding playfully.

“Y…”

“Merida.” Hiccup snapped and he walked off up the mountain and sat down, and started drawing. Merida looked over at Rapunzel and Jack and sighed.

“Feeling alone?” The wind whispered to Merida and she grabbed her bow.

“Pitch.” She called out and the other three teens looked down to her. They got any weapons possible, except Hiccup who ran down to hide behind everyone, and there was a laugh.

“What a warm welcome. I’m just trying to talk.” The voice said and the three armed teens circled around Hiccup, looking for the source.

“Then talk.” Jack said and Pitch laughed.

“I’m not fool Frost. You’ll kill me as soon as I stop moving.”

“That’s the idea.” Merida hissed and they glanced back at Hiccup who was mouthing something.

“Toothless!” He said and dashed over the mountain to where they left the sleeping dragons. Merida gasped and followed him, while Jack and Rapunzel tried their hardest to find Pitch. But of course, it was Merida and Hiccup, who found Pitch perched over the dragon.

“Leave my dragon alone Pitch, or I’ll…”

“Do what? Kill me? You couldn’t even scratch me. That dragon is your only weapon, and now it’s having bad dreams.” Pitch laughed as Toothless turned over restlessly in his sleep. Hiccup ran over to him and tried to shake him awake.

“Come on pal, wake up. It’s OK. It’s a bad dream.”

“I’ll shoot you for him.” Merida told Hiccup, and Pitch just looked at her like she was mad.

“And risk shooting Hiccup when I teleport away?” He asked, stepping between Merida and Hiccup. Merida glanced around, hoping to see Rapunzel or Jack for back up. She lowered her bow in defeat, and then saw an ice blast shoot over her head.

“Did I get him?” Jack asked and they looked at the frozen pillar of darkness that formed where Pitch once was. Merida gasped and ran over to Hiccup, still trying to wake his dragon.

“Missed.” Pitch taunted Jack, urging him to fire again, which he continued to do so. Until, of course, he stepped in front of Rapunzel.

“Shoot! I can handle the cold!” Rapunzel yelled, and Jack kept making attempts to shoot.

“Cat got your staff? You are all weak, thinking you’re free by hatred, but bound by love.” Pitch said and teleported away as Rapunzel tried to hit him with her frying pan. The sounds of Pitch laughing grew quieter and quieter, until it was just an echo in the mountains, and they were alone again.

“He isn’t waking up…” Hiccup called back to Jack and Rapunzel, who ran over to Toothless. Jack glanced at Rapunzel, who shrugged.

“Maybe… I’ll try.” Rapunzel said and she sat down and started singing, making her hair glow. It didn’t help though. Rapunzel sighed, but then Toothless woke up.

“Toothless!” Hiccup said, hugging his friend, who looked at him like he was crazy.

“It’s so great!” Rapunzel said, and Jack smiled at her.

“Can we continue going?” Hiccup asked Toothless, who shot into the air as if to say yes. He pushed himself up and offered a ride to Hiccup and Merida. He then looked at Rapunzel who was looking around.

“You can go on my back if you want.” Jack said and Rapunzel shrugged.
