Gabi woke up in a cold sweat. She breathed heavily as she tried to remember what she dreamed of.
Eren Yeager's titan...
"Gabi?" Mea asked, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," she said shakily.
"Can I come in?"
"Yeah," she repeated, just as shaky.
The door opened, and Mea stepped in. She was in a satin nightgown and her robe.
"Honey, you were screaming in your sleep again," Mea said gently.
"I don't remember why," she lied.
"Okay," Mea said, clearly not convinced but not going to press it. "Lie back down. It's three in the morning."
Gabi laid down, clearly scared. Mea sat beside her feet and took her hand. After a while, Gabi calmed down and laid silently.
"I don't think I can sleep," Gabi said to the wall.
"How about a story?" Mea asked.
"Okay," Gabi said uncertainly.
"Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny..."
By the fourth scene, Gabi had fallen asleep. Mea stood slowly and left as quietly as she could.
The next time Gabi woke up from nightmares, Mea continued where she left off, her hand resting on Gabi's back.
She recited more and more frequently while Gabi tried to fall asleep. It became a nightly tradition quickly. After a month, they reached the fourth act.
