"Any success?" The red head swung around the stone chimney to squat beside his friend. "Uh. Hello?" He waved a hand before his friend's ruby eyes. "What are you looking at..." He followed his companion's gaze down into the crowd.

"What does he have...that's so special..." The blonde growled while glaring down at the princess and his childhood shadow, a mere servant, dancing together. Smiling.

"What's up with you tonight, Bakugou?" The blonde was pulled from his focus as an elbow jabbed into his shoulder.

"Don't do that, damn idiot."

"Oh! Oh oh oh! Is there a girl?! Did you find a beauty?"

"Shut it, Kirishima."

"Apologies. So...did you get into the palace?"

"Of course. That's the stupidest question ever, dumbass."

"So...gold? Diamonds? Rubies?" The blonde huffed and pulled a few gold chains and jeweled pendants from his satchel and tossed them at his friend without any care.

"Woah! Woah! Don't lose the goods!" Kirishima struggled to gather each item before they tumbled off of the roof where they were perched.

"I didn't get the goods yet." Bakugou stood and slid his hands into his worn pockets.

"Excuse me?"

"It's just as I said. I didn't get what I want yet."

"You want to risk going back? Bakugou this is practically assurance of good livin' right here!" The red head held out the priceless spoils in his hands.

"This kingdom...is different. I've found something better than chests of gems and cash."

"Oh...?"

"I'm taking the princess."

"Oh, okay. Got it- Ah! B-Bakugou, WHAT?!" Before Kirishima could make any sense of his friend's words Bakugou swiftly propelled himself from the roof in complete silence, disappearing into the crowds below.

"Hey, Izuku are you hungry at all?" The princess let her head fall back as she took in the multitude of aromas, both sweet and savory. "Izuku?" When she gained no response she paused to look around.

"P-Princess?" A surprised voice popped up beside her.

"Oh! Ochaco, you scared me." The (h/c)-headed girl brought her hand over her chest to try and calm her racing heart.

"Wh-why are you here...and...and dressed like that?" The petite brunette, who worked at the palace, looked worriedly up and down the royal's figure in pure confusion.

"I'm not supposed to be out here..."

"I know! They said the princess...you, could not attend due to illness. What is wrong?"

"Oh. That's what they said? No, no I'm not ill at all. Don't worry. It's because of the recent robberies by that gang of thieves. My parents are worried they'd try and do harm. Izuku came with me though, as well as someone else who promised to protect me."

"I heard you calling out for Deku..." The girl nodded. "Who is the other?"

"A young man named Katsu-" Before she could finish she was pushed aside causing her to lose her balance and collapse onto the ground. When she centered herself she noticed the absence of the girl. "Ochaco...?" The princess carefully rose up, back on her feet.

"Oi!" She turned towards the voice and saw the blonde, Katsuki Bakugou as he introduced himself, waving for her to go over. "Why are you alone? Where's that dumb shorty?"

"I'm not quite sure myself..." She jumped a bit at the sudden contact from his rough hand clamping around her arm.

"Come on. I'm taking you back." He tugged hard giving (y/n) no choice but to follow.

"Back?"

"Yes, to the palace. Hurry up."

"Why? There's still more to do!"

"We made a deal, right? I'd protect you for the night. I crossed paths with some information that could make that harder to do, and I'm not a damn babysitter."

"But the palace is that way..." She pointed back towards the main road as he led them down a small quiet street towards the forest.

"It's too risky to be in the open."

"Shouldn't we at least wait for Izuku?"

"Time is a deadly weapon and right now it's aiming at you."

"Why are you doing this? You got the gold you wanted, why not take it and leave? Wasn't that your original plan? I've never thought thieves to be so noble and knightly."

"Shut up."

"How do you know Izuku?"

"Be quiet."

"Are you from this kingd-" Before she could finish her question, her breath was knocked out of her as her back hit the sturdy trunk of a tree and her lips captured in a rough kiss. Her lungs quickly filled with the cool night air as he retreated a bit. In that moment, when their eyes met, she could see something deep within his scarlet orbs. For just a second, a raw icy pain; perhaps sadness, was revealed.

"That shut you up..." He murmured and looked away.

"Get away from her. Kacchan." The two looked behind them to see Izuku in the clearing, wearing an expression of wide eyes and surprise.

"Come on, princess." Bakugou ignored the other male and took the princess' delicate hand in his and pulled her to walk beside him.

"Where are you taking her, Kacchan? Stop!"

"Back to the castle, she may be in danger. That group of bandits apparently made an appearance."

"I thought that was your group, Bakugou." Hearing his name spoken in that boy's voice set fire to his soul.

"You thought..." Bakugou stopped and turned back, taking a step in front of (y/n) to separate the space between her and Izuku. "You thought my people were the gossiped group?" Bakugou let out a blunt laugh. "Idiot. My targets never realize that they've been played under my hands. The best thieves don't make themselves known. The best thieves are shadows. I would never lead a group of idiots who are constantly found out."

"Kacchan..." Izuku's voice wavered as he stared into the crimson eyes locked on him. (Y/n) stood frozen in place, but a slight movement caught her eye. Bakugou rocked forward on his right foot ever so slightly causing a small dark object to slide from his pant leg onto the forest floor behind his boot; from that angle Izuku wouldn't have been able to see it. (Y/n) made out the object's shape and slight shine as the early moonlight reflected off the polished blade.

The princess' heart sped up, worried about the possibility of bloodshed. "Kacchan." Izuku's voice steadied into a deep, stiff tone. "That's not very nice of you...to call my friends idiots." Time seemed to pulse and slow at his words.

"I-Izuku..." (Y/n) whispered the name she had always trusted as she forced herself to look past the blonde. Her blood instantly ran cold at the sight; at his eyes. The once innocent emerald eyes full of compassion and care had sunk to lifeless shadowy green pits.

"Give me the princess, Kacchan. I'll count to three and no one will get hurt." His voice only deepened her terror as it felt like thick thorny vines snaking around her, tighter and tighter, stealing her breath away. She watched as he flicked his wrist, causing a sudden glint of light before she noticed a long dagger in his grasp. "One..." The blade swam between his fingers as he mockingly played it in his hands. "Two..." His knuckles grew white as his hold on the weapon fastened. "Three."
