All three of us gathered in my room and hopped on to my bed. Eva stretched her arms and took hold of a pillow to hug. I followed her lead.
"So, why are you here so suddenly? Is everything okay?" I asked. Eva nodded, but Jacob kept his eyes on his phone.
"Just got some free time and thought we can spend some it with you." Eva said.
"That's nice." I looked at Jacob. "Hey Jac, you okay?" I asked.
"Mhm." He mumbled, scratching his chin.
"What's up with him?" I whispered to Eva.
She sighed. "He's busy with the upcoming school play. He's in it. With Harry."
"That's good news! Can I come to watch this so called play?"
"You can, of course. But that's not it. Harry's playing the main character, Mr. Graham. He's the main girl's boyfriend. Jacob's not happy with it." Eva said, stealing a glance towards Jacob, who's still typing furiously in his phone.
"Oh come on, now! We all know that Harry loves you! No body can change that!" I said, feeling so sure about that.
Jacob switched off his phone and pocketed it with a sigh. "That's not just the problem." He turned to me, his eyes weary and tired. "Harry suddenly changed after he got the role."
"What do you mean, changed?" I asked.
"He...um...he started avoiding me."
"But, but he was dancing with you last night now, wasn't he?"
"Yeah he was. But that was just because that girl wasn't there. Whenever she's around, he acts like he doesn't even know me! He's clearly ashamed of me!" Jacob's voice sounded drained, and that's when I noticed the slight dark circles under his eyes.
"Oh, don't say that! He is not ashamed of you, I'm sure of that. You need to stop saying that!" Eva said, as though she has heard this story over and over again.
"Who is this girl?" I asked.
"Her name's Joey. Not the very friendliest, but she obviously got the attention of the guys." Eva explained.
"Don't mention that bitch's name in front of me!" Jacob said angrily and stood up from the bed to walk over to the window.
"He's clearly heart broken." I said, looking at Jacob.
"Hmm. I personally think that he's over reacting, but then again this thought crossed my mind as well."
"What is it?"
"Um...I feel.like that Harry's not gay. He's not straight either, but he's not gay as well." She whispered.
"Then...."
"He's bisexual. He has to be. I didn't tell this to Jac but I heard that Harry has asked out the girl."
"What!?" I felt anger creeping into me.
"I know! He has to be an asshole to do such a thing, but It's not our life to complain, right? Poor Jacob. If that rumor is true, I don't know what will happen to him!"
"We have to talk to Harry about this, don't you think? For our friend?" I asked, hugging my pillow tighter.
"No." Eva shook her head. "It's their relationship. We can't interfere in something that they should deal with. Let's just mind our own business."
"But...but.. it's unfair. We can't just stay silent while our friend is suffering." I exclaimed.
"We got no choice, Hope!" Eva breathed. I shook my head and buried it in the pillow.
"Oh, I got to go." Jacob's voice brought my head back up. He was looking at his phone, a very confused expression spread across his face. "Harry just texted me. Bye girls." He opened the door and exited, closing the door behind him.
"Can you imagine what he's going through?" I asked.
Eva nodded. "Yeah, I can. It's horrible."
"I can't keep watching him.going through that all by himself." I said, turning to the door.
"So, what do you suggest we should do?" Eva asked.
"I think we should talk to Harry about this. He's the only one that can understand the situation. Not the girl, not Jac, but him. He's in the middle of this whole thing, so we better go talk to him." I said, sitting up on the bed.
"Okay then. If you so badly want to." Eva smiled. "Who knew that you could be pretty good at solving problems?!"
"I'm not. I don't know where this all is coming from. " I said, clearly surprised myself.
"It's good though. A pretty good turn in your character, Hope. I guess it's all coming from your father.
I smiled, feeling utterly pleased. "Thanks, Eva, for saying that."
"No problem. Now, let's go talk to the main problem of the situation, now shall we?"
"Sure."
______________________________The school was crowded a bit, but Eva managed to find Harry amongst them. He was talking to a short, brunette with black eyes. She is pretty, but not so much. I scowled as we got closer and saw that they were holding hands. Jacob's no where to be seen.
"Harry?" Eva called. He turned and smiled somewhat faintly.
"Hey girls. What are you doing here?" He asked, walking up to us after excusing himself from the girl.
"Came to talk to you. Can we?" I asked.
He frowned. "Sure, but about what exactly?"
I made sure no one's eavesdropping before talking. "Um....is everything okay between you and Jacob?"
"What do you mean?" He looked uncomfortable, but he managed to sound pretty fine. "We are all good. Nothing's wrong."
"Then... who's she?" Eva asked, nodding towards the girl.
"Oh her?" Harry said without even glancing at her. "She's my partner in the play. That's all."
"You were holding hands, Harry." Eva pointed out.
"I know! So what? She's my friend, that's it!" He sounded pretty annoyed, but I didn't care. And nor did Eva. She scowled at Harry.
"Okay, so then where's Jacob?" She asked.
"He's.... he's...um....he went to get a drink."
"Just tell us the truth, will you? Or at least Jac? Stop breaking him apart by lying to him, Harry! That's all we want! If you don't love him, tell to his face without sneaking behind his back! If you're doing that just now....you are a cheater Harry!! A cheater!!" I blamed.
He looked bewildered, and kept his mouth shut. Eva and I had said everything we had to say. We turned on our heels and walked back out of the school and in to the car.
