A Book of Shadows also known as a BOS is a book, journal, binder with paper, etc. to keep your information in while studying witchcraft and things about Wicca. You can design it to your liking or leave it be. There are also many places to hid it if you are inside of the broom closet.
The broom closet is basically like you're part of the LGBT+. Until you "come out", you are inside the broom closet. Yes, this is a real thing, and I'm inside of it as well.
In your book of shadows you can put anything you would like. DO NOT listen to others if that say "you're doing witchcraft wrong" or "that's not witchy" because witchcraft is your practice, not theirs. You can make it as unique as you want, silly as you want, etc. All you need to do is focus and concentrate while casting the spell. If you don't concentrate there is a chance it wont work properly.
In some families, they couldn't except witches. in the list below is some places where you can hid your book and your information.
-underneath your bed
-in a bookshelf
-in your closet or a drawer under clothes
-with your sketch books (if you're an artist)
-between extra blankets
-write it on wattpad (best part is you dont need to change it)
-write it in your notes on your phone
-anywhere where your parents, siblings, or family members don't check.
