"I love you you know," Dimitri whispered in my ear as we went to lunch.

"Hmmm. I love you too." I snuggled into his side.

"How am I so lucky to have you and the impossible?" My man kissed my cheek.

"Ask the powers that be, not me," I laughed.

"God woman. You really have no clue what you do to me, do you?"

"Speak for yourself!" I teased.

"Roza, love, you know we've never actually verbalised the change in our relationship status?"

"Hmm. We haven't. So, were do we sit?"

"Be my girlfriend?"

"Of course," I was grinning like a mad woman. Well, that's only to be expected given I'm madly in love with the man I'm wrapped in. The man who has fathered my miracle.

"Now, food. Then shopping for the basics? As in maternity wear at bare minimum."

"Yup. Okay." We simply, and boringly, went to Macca's for lunch before we went hunting.

By the time we finished we'd bought more than maternity wear. We came out with a set of bibs, a wonder-suit and a soft toy. It was still very early days but we had no clue when we'd next get a chance to shop. The rest we'd gradually place holds for online.

"Dimitri?" I asked as we entered our dorm twenty-four hours after my graduation.

"Yes, my love?"

"How are we going adjust? I'm mean, using the extra hours we're not on shift? We can't train all the time."

"Well, my dearest Mom-to-be," that made my heart flutter, "we have a child to plan for. So, we can spend our free time investigating, planning, organising and learning. Then there's Christmas in a month, New Years, Valentine's day, and your eighteenth. There's scans to do, a unit to put on hold at Court, and Victor's trial. And sleep. We're not going to get much after Bubby's born."

"Hmm. Now I'm glad I'm graduated already." That elicited a laugh from my boyfriend.

"Those ten hour days were worth it, weren't they?"

"I never said they weren't! I'm the one who asked for them. I knew they'd be worth-" I got cut off by a yawn. Which got cut off by Dimitri's phone ringing. Once he was off I asked "what was that about?"

"We've got another road trip. Do you remember meeting Art for your qualifier last week?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"He hasn't done his daily check in with council in two days. We've been dispatched as half a swat team if it turns out to be an attack." My man was already leading us to the garages. A five hour drive later brought us back to the Badica house. Which was all too quiet.

"I'm going around the back," I notified my boyfriend as my guarding partner. He reluctantly let me out of sight and I nearly tripped on a stake. Oh shit! Not humans piercing wards! That was the last thing this world needed- the supposed-to-be-kept-in-the-dark humans helping the bad guys. Great! Just great! Now nothing was safe, nothing was as we knew it. Me being pregnant with a supposed-to-be-impossible child was another instance. A check in the living room adjoining the back patio revealed a sight that translated into needing to call a team in.

Once we'd returned to school we had a meeting to attend. Discussing what to do for winter break. The result was a ski trip. The rumour of the attack had already spread. The next morning the news of the ski trip was travelling faster and proved to be a distraction. Good for Moroi morale but bad news for novices. Mase was one novice whose head I had to pull in.
