My eyes blink open, this isn't my house? Oh, yeah. This isn't my house. Nothing I can do about it. I let out a long sigh and get up. I walk to the bathroom across the hall from me and freshen up my hair, wash my face and brush down my clothes. Ew. I smell really bad. I walk out of the bathroom, where only Josh is sitting on the couch.

"Hey Josh, I'm going to the mall to buy some deodorant and a shirt. Is that alright?" I ask while hugging him from behind over the back of the couch.

"Yeah, but just make sure your back in say, 20-30 minutes. Got it?" Josh replies to me, looking behind him. I smile widely.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I shout before running to my room and grabbing the money I left on the chest of drawers last night. $5 seems like enough, right.

I run out the door and walk towards the mall that we had past last night. Soon enough, the large glowing sign 'Starcourt Mall' came into view and I stepped inside. Each and every inch of the place was taken up by people, no room to move at all. I walk around to find the nearest pharmacy which was super hard considering the circumstance I'm in. I push past the group's of laughing and chattering humans in colourful clothes while looking at all the signs. Finally!

I make my way into the pharmacy with only few people scattered in isles. I look at the green and pick overhead signs until I spot 'hygein'. I head to the isle. Shaving cream. No. Razors. No. Hair product? No. Tampax. No. Ah! Deodorant! I look through the rows of colourful bottles of liquid and sticks of soft gel.

I pick up my favourite, a white bottle with a purple cap filled with liquid and smelling of lavender. I check the price tag. $6!!!! Okay, not only do I not have that much but that is WAY overpriced. I quickly plop it back on the dirty shelf and decide just to head to the street with all the stores lining either side, most shut down now since they went out of business because of the new mall just a few blocks away.

I walk the empty streets looking through all the store Windows, almost all of them empty. I eventually find the one store that had stuff still on the shelves, the general store. I open the heavy glass door with the bell above ringing as I step inside. A woman was standing at the counter, looking bored as all heck. She looks up and her frown instantly turned to a large grin.

"Y/N!" She shouts before running around the counter and engulfing me in a tight hug. I don't think I know this crazy women. Help. I hug back so I don't seem rude then we both pull away.

"Sorry, do I know you?" I ask trying to sound as polite as possible.

"Oh yes, I'm very sorry. I'm Joyce. Joyce Byers. I was one of your mum's friends when we all lived back out of town! I'm so glad your staying with us." She explains and I nod my head. I must have only been around 6 or 7 when the Byers moved to Hawkins so that why I mustn't remember her. I smile at her warmly.

"Oh well, hello Joyce. It's lovely to meet you once again. And I'm also glad I'm staying with you." I reply.

"So, what do you need?" She says while walking around the store, tagging products.

"Just some deodorant and a shirt." Joyce thinks for a moment then motions me to an isle of deodorant. $2 a bottle, that's more like it! I pick out the white bottle with the purple cap once again then Joyce shows me to the shirts. I pick up a beige top with dark green, white and dark blue stripes. I take them to the counter and place them on top. I slide the money over as Joyce scans the items.

"No need, it's on me." She smiles and I shake my head.

"I insist." I reply.

"No way. Like I said, it's on me." I shake my head again giggling.

"Nope. No way Joyce."

"You live in my house now, meaning I can pay for your stuff!" There is no way I'm winning this.

"Ugh fine." I playfully roll my eyes.

"And just for the attitude, young lady, you get a complimentary pair of shorts!" She shouts joyously while picking out a pair of flared, pale denim shorts. "And socks!" She also then grabs a pair of white, half-shin socks with two dark green stripes wrapped around the top. I shake my head and laugh as she bags the four items.

"Thank you so much Joyce, I'll see you later."

"Bye Y/N. Stay safe!" Joyce yells the last part since I'm already half way out the door.

----

I run inside the house with the bag in hand, I yell hello to Joshua, not even looking if he's on the couch, then run straight to the guest room. I get changed and put on the deoderant. I go to the bathroom and fix my outfit. I tuck the top into the shorts and pull it out only a little all the way around. I feel really pretty not going to lie. Then I take my hair out of it's previous pony tail, letting my H/C beach-wave locks fall over my shoulders.

"Pretty." I whisper into the mirror and walk out to the lounge.

There's three boys on the couch now. Two I recognize, one not so much.

"Hey." I say blankly but with a smile as I sit on the couch between the edge and Josh.

"Y/N, this is Will. Will, Y/N." Jonathan says pointing to the unfamiliar boy. We both lean forward so we can see past Josh and we lock eyes. He's..  well... gorgeous. His chocolate brown eyes and his perfect brown bowl cut makes him look.. stunning. I never thought that I would say this, but short shorts look really good on him. He's perfect. But i'm not falling for him, at least not yet anyway. I'm snapped out of my thoughts and unintentional staring contest with Will by Josh's voice.

"Go out somewhere, get to know each other for god sakes! Don't just look at each other!" I blush and look away while also nodding my head.

"Do you want to go meet my friends? We have a surprise planned for one of them." Will jumps up excitedly while smiling ridiculously, making me smile too.

"Heck yeah!" I shout and run out the door following close behind the boy.
