How did it manage to get queer people to root for it?
Well.. one of them realised she might actually be into girls. And we get the classic 'I'm in love with my best friend' plot (done the right way). There is a gay character who is not the best person around, but is still classic and gets a happy ending (yayy). We also meet lesbian characters, an intersex character and a trans character along the course of 3 seasons, and we get to see a solid female friendship go through some pretty rough situations (but it all works out despite the drama and everything's perfect..)
