Virgil's POV

I bolted upright and looked over to the window where Roman stood. He was peaking out the curtains at, what I'm guessing, the police. I looked over to the door and saw Logan and Patton, both looking pretty flushed, running around barricading the door and windows.

I hopped out of bed and walked over to Roman. "How many are out there?" He turned to me, worried. "I don't know, but so far I've counted twenty." I nodded and left the room. "Hey Kiddo, how ya feeling?" "I'm feeling okay, my shoulder doesn't hurt. That's not important right now though, what are we gonna do?" "Me and Logan are blocking everything up to try and stop them from coming inside but other then that, we can't do much." Logan approached us, "First off, it's 'Logan and I' secondly we do have something else to do."

Roman came out the bedroom to listen. "We need a distraction. I chose this place because it's actually an old mining shack. Somewhere in here is the entrance to the mining tunnel and if we find it, we can escape unnoticed. All we need is time." I nodded, "I have an idea."

Time Skip

I shimmied my way up the chimney and on to the roof. I stayed low, making sure no one could see me. Roman then came out the chimney and lay in the roof next to me. "Are you sure this will work?" Roman looked at me, slightly worried. "If it doesn't, we're screwed. Simple as that." I then pulled a small knife from my pocket and slit my wrist. Roman held out his arm and I did the same, he winced a bit but didn't make much of a sound. "You ready?" "Ready as I'll ever be."

I pressed our wrists together and our blood mixed. We waited with baited breath until......the blood began to glow. The light traveled through his veins, lighting him up. "Well now you're a nightlight, wanna try your powers out?" He nodded and then looked towards the police who's attention was still focused on the house. "What should I make?" I though for a second, "You know, I don't think the police know how to handle a dragon."

Small time skip

We quickly made our way down the chimney, the sounds of a dragon following us. "I'm not gonna question what you made, but Patton found the entrance and we need to go now." We followed Logan into the kitchen area and saw a trapdoor on the floor. Logan jumped in, then Roman, and I got in last closing the trapdoor behind me.

Once the door shut we should have been plunged into darkness, but Roman was still glowing so we could see just fine. "Wow, how are you glowing?!? Did I glow when I got my powers?" Roman shrugged and we started to walk down the tunnel. It was really old. The support beams looked ready to collapse, the equipment was old and rotten, and bits of wall and ceiling had collapsed.

We made our way through the dark winding tunnels, constantly changing direction. I honestly can't say how long we were in there for but it felt like hours. Everything was going great until, "Umm, Roman, you're fading." Logan and Patton turned around to look at Roman as the light in his veins began to fade. We quickened our pace, hurrying down the tunnel as quick as we could without running.

"Hey guys, I see the exit!" Patton practically yelled and began to run. Roman looked over at me and I shrugged before taking off after him. I caught up and passed him. I started to laugh as I finally reached the surface. I was in a clearing, grass that came up to my knees, and trees all around. I turned back to the cave and waved at the other three.

"Freeze, turn around with your hands up."
