You were working in your room, papers scattered all over your bed, at least 12 windows open on your laptop. Psych was playing on the flat screen in front of you, Shawn and Gus bitching about Lassiter per usual. Fury had you working your ass off after the whole Ultron ordeal. You heard a soft bang outside your closed door. Curious, you set down the papers in your hand and stood up from your bed. You got to your door and heard another loud bang, followed by a long moan. You opened your door and looked to your left to find a very disgruntled, very drunk Thor on the floor.
"Thor, hon, whatcha doing?" You crouched down so you could see his face. He mumbled something you couldn't understand and attempted to stand up. You helped him to his feet and led him into your room, sitting him on your bed. "Y/N?... Y/N!" His eyes cleared as he looked at you. "What are you doing here?" He asked you, messing with a loose thread on his sweatpants. You laughed softly and laid him down on your bed. "Thor, hon, get some sleep. Okay?" He struggled against your grip on his arms, but he was too weak with the alcohol in his system. But unfortunately, you weren't expecting him to pull you down with him. You were instantly enveloped in large arms with your head flat against his chest.
"Y/N, I've been wanting to tell you something for, like, ever," he slurred. You managed to shake out of his grasp just enough to see his face. "What is it T?" He moved his eyes to yours and took a deep breath. "Mmmmmm, I don't wanna talk about it." He buried his head in your pillow and kept his iron grip on you. "C'mon T, what were you going to say?" Thor pushed himself into a sitting position, bringing you up with him. He looked past you, seemingly deep in thought. "Mmm, just that I love you... kinda. No, I don't. Yeah, I do," he stumbled over his words. Meanwhile, you were in shock, looking at him. Thor kept trying to explain himself, eventually coming back to 'I love you'. He went silent after that, laying back down.
After a few minutes, you looked up at him, seeing that he had fallen asleep. You again attempted to get out of his arms, but he somehow kept you in place. You tried to process this information in your head, completely failing. Your eyelids grew heavy and between Thor's warm arms wrapped around you and the sound of Shawn monologuing in the background, you fell asleep.
The next morning brought awkward conversations and confused looks from the rest of the Avengers. You woke up, still enveloped in Thor's arms. Thankfully, his grip had loosened, allowing you to escape. Standing up, you had to suppress a laugh looking at his position. His face was half smushed into your pillow, arms wrapped around the empty space you were just lying, his legs tangled in your comforter. You carefully laid a blanket across his body, trying not to wake him.
As you shuffled into the kitchen area, Nat and Clint were having a heated argument about something related to honeydew. You greeted them and grabbed a few pop tarts to take back to your room. Surprisingly, Psych was still playing on your TV, the episode about Mr. Yang. It was one of your favorites, but your attention quickly turned to Thor, who was now sitting up, rubbing his eyes.
"Hey, how you feeling?" You walked towards him and sat on the edge of your bed, handing him a pop tart. He groaned in response and fell back against your headboard. You laughed softly and walked to your bathroom. You rummaged through your drawers looking for something to help his hangover. You heard Thor stand up and walk towards you. "What happened last night?" You flashed back to his confession, wondering if he remembered it. Apparently not. After going through the long list of pros and cons in your head, you decided you had to tell him.
"You told me you loved me," you said, not looking up at him. You found the medicine, but still refused to meet his eyes. Thor was quiet for a second before stuttering and quickly walking out of the room. You were a little disappointed. Truth was, you loved him too. You didn't know when you discovered this, but it didn't matter.
Thor was a dangerous, innocent puppy. He was awful at hiding how he felt, always letting people in. You admired him for that, for not being a coward. You had a wall no one could ever break down. You never let anyone know how you really felt, never truly trusting anyone. Except Thor. You knew you would always be safe around him, but not because he was the god of thunder. But because you understood him. And he understood you. The way he talked about his brother proudly, like he didn't try to take over the world on multiple occasions. The way he put others before him, making sure everyone was okay after a mission. He could always see the good in people, whereas you always saw the monster hidden within them. But Thor's adorable, pop tart loving soul reminded you that the monster could be silenced, be buried. Thor was impossible not to love.
You dropped the medicine on your counter and jogged to the kitchen. Nat and Clint were now arguing about green beans. What the fuck. "Where's Thor?" They stopped arguing and Nat said, "Roof". She turned back to Clint and screamed, "You don't need to cut them! It makes them taste terrible!" You walked away, extremely confused. The elevator ride seemed to take forever, but you finally made it to the top. Stepping onto the roof, with the hot sun beating down on your exposed skin, you spotted Thor sitting on the edge with his feet hanging off the side. He was still eating the pop tart. You were just wearing a large t-shirt and shorts, whatever. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky, nothing to block the sun. Sweat already covered your forehead. How Thor could sit out here in sweatpants, you didn't know. You slowly walked towards the giant of a man, sitting down next to him. Neither of you said anything for a while. The skyline of New York was always beautiful, no matter the weather.
"I meant it," Thor said out of the blue. You looked at him and tilted your head, his profile the most beautiful thing you've seen in a while. He looked back at you; his blue eyes were locked on your E/C ones. He sensed your confusion. "I meant what I said. I do love you. Trust me, I don't get it either," he said with a short laugh. You were still silent, looking up at him. He continued. "On Asgard, I was supposed to fall in love with and marry a princess. I hated that- destiny. It's all bullshit. None of the girls there were nice, or brave, or smart. None of them were like you. I came to Earth for Loki but met you instead. It was the best thing that ever happened to me." Thor stood up then, pulling you up with him. He held your hands in his. "You have such a good heart, Y/N. I saw that right when I met you. I wish you could see yourself how I see you." His face got closer to yours.
You were rendered speechless as his lips connected with yours. One of his hands came up to cup your cheek, deepening the kiss. You opened your mouth and tilted your head, desperate to be closer to him. Thor's other hand wrapped around your waist and pulled you flush against him. You had to stand on your toes as you tangled your hands in his blonde hair. Unfortunately, you were still human and had to pull away to breathe.
"I love you, too," you whispered with your forehead pressed against his. "But it's hot as hell, let's go inside," you said. Thor laughed and wrapped a muscled arm around your shoulder. You two walked towards the entrance to the tower, leaving the discarded pop tart behind.
