"Guys, this is not how this was supposed to go," you spoke into your comm. This was just supposed to be a quick get in get out bank robbery mission, but it turns out that it was all part of a bigger operation including vigilantes you and the others have been pursuing for months. Because of that you were now on your motorcycle going 120 being chased by a Lamborghini full of armed men... with no backup. Your helmet had been lost a couple miles back, but you couldn't worry about that right now.

You were coming up on an intersection full of people and you refused to let any civilian get hurt. So, you did what any rational person would and veered off the road into a ditch. Getting a little beat up was worth it to save any innocent person. What you didn't expect to happen was for you to fly off your bike and land on your upper back and head. Before the car stopped and turned around, probably to go back to their hideout, wherever that was, one of the men got one last shot off. You were already in so much pain, you barely registered the bullet going through your right thigh. The last thing you could hear was Steve's voice in your ear before everything went dark.

"Is she going to be okay?" A female voice rang in your ears. Natasha, you presumed, but you couldn't be sure. "She hit her head pretty hard, and the damage to her spine was also bad. I didn't even notice the bullet wound until we got her here," a male voice said, definitely Bruce. While trying to focus on the voices, you didn't even realize the weight of someone's hand wrapped around yours. You were trying to move, just trying to let someone know you were awake. But you couldn't. So, you focused on squeezing your hand. The person next to you stood up and leaned over. "Y/N?" It was Steve's voice. You still couldn't move. "Bruce, she's awake."

Feet shuffled and there was someone messing with the machines attached to your body. You managed to open your eyes a crack, blinking against the harsh light. You could just barely see Bruce standing over you, focused on the IV in your arm. "What the hell happened," you managed to get out. His eyes moved to your face and he smiled gently. "We lost track of them after you got hurt pretty bad." You silently cursed yourself for not going after them. "Are the others okay?" Bruce chuckled. "Y/N, always putting the others first. Yeah, they're fine. Clint has a couple bruises and Nat twisted her ankle. Other than that, they're good." You nodded, but immediately regretted it as a wave of pain shot through your head. After the pain died down, your thoughts went to Steve. You wanted him back with you. Bruce finished whatever he was doing and walked out of the room.

After the door closed it was almost immediately opened again and Steve ran into the room. He looked you over, probably for additional injuries. Satisfied with his search, his bright blue eyes found yours. His hands cupped your face and slowly leaned down to press his lips to yours. You two separated and he leaned his forehead against yours. "I have a question," you whispered. "Anything doll." You smirked before continuing. "What happened to my bike?" Steve laughed and stood up straight. "Seriously? Jesus, you had me for a second there." You smiled, looking up at him. "Yeah, seriously though, where the hell's my bike?" Your face lost its' amusement. Unfortunately, so did his. "Steve," you warned. "It kinda sorta blew up after we got to you," he said hesitantly.

You clenched your teeth and tried your hardest not to punch the closest thing to you. Everyone knew how much that motorcycle meant to you. It had survived through the most intense missions and it had been with you through thick and thin. Custom make, Aprilia RSV 1000R mile with a top speed of 175 mph. That bike was your most prized possession, and everyone knew what would happen if they messed with it. Unfortunately, Clint found out after everyone else.

After being cleared from the med bay, you and Tony spent two weeks, day and night, planning, constructing, testing, and painting your new bike. Better speed, better turn radius, overall better bike. Of course, you still miss your custom Aprilia, but your new custom Kawasaki will do fine. You and Steve still go on your nightly rides, usually ending in a makeout session. It's good enough for you.
