"Hey, Sar. It's me, Leo. Um, call me back when you get this. Thanks." I sighed, setting my phone back on my side table. I rubbed my face as I laid down on my bed. Sara always does this.
Something basic happens, most often involving Amanda, and Sara gets upset. She doesn't talk to me for a few days, then coaxes me into taking her to dinner or something, and she forgives me. Everyone I know doesn't like her much, and thinks I should break up with her. But I don't know. Sara was really nice in the beginning. Kind, understanding.. she even seemed to like Amanda a lot. I know the old Sara in still in there. I just don't really know where it is.

My phone starts ringing and I check it expectantly, but the face flashing on my screen isn't Sara. It's my favorite picture of Amanda.

She and I were swinging on my front porch swing. Amanda had on jeans and a white crop top. I had lectured her on being cold, but she brushed me off. We left for our walk to my house and I was right; she was cold. I gave her one of my jean jackets and we sat on the swing. She typically hates pictures, and she just looked so happy and beautiful. I stole a picture of her when she was turned away, but most of her face can still be seen. I'm pretty sure she still has that jacket at home-but I could care less.

I answer her call on the second ring. "Hey."

"Leo! You're still awake? Do you know what time it is?" Before I can check; "It's one A.M. Go to sleep!"

"Amanda, I'm waiting on a call from Sara." I reposition myself on the bed.

"Leo, you know she's not going to call you back tonight. She's going to be angry until at least Monday... Leo?"

"...yeah. I know. But I can still hope." I close my eyes and sigh.

"Leo..." Amanda sighs. "Sara doesn't deserve you. She doesn't. You deserve someone so much better." Amanda's voice changes, into a dreamy, almost wistful tone. "Someone who cares about you, cares so, so much, and doesn't assume the worst when she sees you hanging with other girls. Someone who is going to try and not argue, because she hates arguing with someone she really, really cares about. Someone who remembers the little things, all of them, as well as the important ones. Someone who.. really, truly knows you." My eyes fly open as I grin.

"Mmm.. thanks Manda. I wish the same for you." I roll on my side, smiling. She laughs.

"Let's be honest. We will be going into our senior year in the fall, Leo. No boy has ever shown any interest in me, at all. I don't know why. I'm not mean, not gross, and I'm not that weird."

"Manda, you are the weirdest." I laugh at her as she ticks off reasons.

"Shut up! So are you."

"I know."

"Anyway, I'll probably be single until college or..." She yawns. "...or something.."

"Hey, you seem pretty tired Manda. I'll let you go to bed now, okay?"

"But..but only if you go to sleep too." Amanda drowsily requests.

"Okay, A. I promise. Good night, and sweet dreams."

"Night, lion. Love you."

"Love ya too." I set my phone down and plug it. I am easily able to fall asleep.

A/N

Heyy, Hedgehog here! Just a quick note to say that just because they ended their call with "I Love You", it doesn't mean anything like a romantic relationship, so don't attack me. I tell my friends that I love them, and one of them is a guy I have no feelings for. This is because I care deeply for them. That's all! Bye!
