An glass shattering shriek rings throughout the house.
"I knew it!" My mom grins and claps her hands. Kellie beams as well.
"I totally called it. Told you mothers know everything!" Amanda rubs her face and I can't help but smile. After a week of little glances and secret kisses and sneaky teases, our mothers sat us down to explain what was going on.
"Could you be any more unnecessarily loud?"
"Oh, Manda, they're just excited." I remark. She rolls her eyes.
"I know, but jeez. If they knew it would happen, then why so surprised?" I shrug.
"Knowing it would happen and being told are different things. It comes to a reality." Mom says. "When your child and his best friend finally get together, a mother is going to get excited. One day, you'll understand, when you two have kids of your own!" Amanda starts forward, and begins coughing uncontrollably, her face stark red.
"No. Not for a long time. A long, long, time." I rub her back.
"At least one of us thinks we'll be together that long." Our moms gasp while Amanda glares.
"Take it back, Biron. I'll kill ya. And break up with you on the spot." I smirk and pull her close.
"I'm only kidding. Love you." I whisper, nuzzling her face. Amanda smiles into my cheek, and I feel her hot breath on my ear.
"Love you more."
"Awe, it's so sweet, I just can't! Can you, Anna? Because I can't."
"Can't what, mom? Finish a freaking sentence?" Amanda asks, pulling a small bit away.
"You hush. I may be overly excited, but I am still your mother."
"Yeah, Amanda. She's your mother." I tease, grinning down at my girlfriend.
Girlfriend. God. I still can't believe it. I've always referred to her as my best friend, and now she's my girlfriend. I'm dating her. I can hold her when I want, I can touch her when I want, and I can tell her I love her.
"Shut up, stupid." I rest my chin on Amanda's head, and gaze at our mothers, still staring at our embrace. "We should go. We have to meet Kaiya and her new boy attraction in 15 minutes."
I let Amanda go, and we wave goodbye.
"Bye! Have fun!" We get into Amanda's silver car and head to a small diner across town.
"Hey, Leo?" Amanda glances over to me.
"Yeah?"
"I love you." Amanda bites her lip and smiles.
"I love you too, A. Love you too."
