"Well, that's a ridiculous reason to interrupt me." I find myself saying. I'm blushing, hard.
"Nothing, just wanted to watch your prettiness." The sentence repeats in my head, over and over again in Leo's same teasing, playful tone.
"At least it's not a lie." I roll my eyes.
"It is too, and you know it, Leo." He leans forward slightly, nearly as close as we had been yesterday at the beach.
"Is it? Do I know?" My heart pounds.
"Well, y-yeah. S-so, what's the real reason you interrupted me for?" Leo leans back.
"You got me. I just wanted to change the topic." I feel my body sag as Leo continues. "I actually wanted to tell you something, but it's kind of hard to explain, so it'll be easier to show you. You know, for awhile I wasn't sure you'd get it, or understand, but I've talked to Ingrid. I've also paid more attention, so I kinda understand it myself more too. And I've kinda postponed telling you, you know, the whole Sara problems, and before that, we were kinda busy with Nemo's party..." I think his speech is going to end, but then I notice the glint in his eyes, and the smirk he's giving as he speaks. He's putting off telling me so he can watch me act nervous! He knows I'm impatient. I finally catch him breathe and interrupt.
"Leo! Just tell me what-" I'm silenced by Leo kissing me.
The moment our lips touch, it's a train reaction. My hands moving to behind his neck, and his around my waist. Us subconsciously closing the distance until our bodies fit perfectly together, melting into one another. This is a moment I could never have imagined happening, but now it's the most important and wonderful thing that has happened to me. The kiss deepens, and at last we pull away, our faces still merely a few inches from each other. "Wow. I just kissed you, a-and you just kissed me, and-"
"-And" Leo gently begins. "And we're about to do it again." Our heads move together again, and the same fireworks as before explode in my mouth. This time, when we pull away, the only sound either of us can make are light, giddy giggles.
. . .
"Totally insane."
"Insanely wonderful."
"Wonderfully lucky."
"Luckily happy."
"Happy."
"Mhmm.." I hum, burrowing myself deeper into Leo's embrace. The movie we turned on drones casually in the background. After the moment outside, we came in and sat on the couch. For the last hour, we've been talking about the recent awkward moments and what the people we've talked to said. Our point of views, and just talking about how we are stupid to not have seen it sooner. I'm wrapped up in Leo's arms, more comfortable and happy then I've been in a little while. "Leo.. I love you so, so much."
"Hmm.." Leo quietly murmurs in my ear. "You do?" I pull away enough to give him a small glare. "Teasing. I love you more, Manda." After a small kiss, I smile mischievously.
"I bet I love you more." Leo smirks.
"Is everything a competition? If so, then I would win." He pulls me closer, and I adore the feeling of his heart against me.
"Okay.." I whisper contentedly.
"Giving up so soon? Where's the Amanda I know and love?" I laugh.
"She's completely and totally.. absolutely lovesick." If it's possible, our bodies more even closer.
"Lucky for her.. so am I." Leo's soothing voice makes me even more drowsy than before. "Tired?"
"A little." Then, I hear the cracking of pavement as my mother pulls into the driveway. "Aw.." I softly coo.
