It had been a few days since the party and Ondina's decision to stay on land. Things had gotten a little tense within the group, primarily between her and Mimmi. Sirena and Manoa, however, tried to make things work with everyone.
"Anyone for crab pancakes?" Ondina asks, entering the Grotto while Sirena and Manoa were fixing their hair, and Mimmi was getting ready for work.
"Try and keep me away." Sirena says, walking over to her.
"What's this for?" Manoa asks, following them.
"Can't a mermaid spoil her friends once in a while?" Ondina asked.
"Anytime you like." Sirena says.
Ondina then lifted the cover to reveal some extremely burnt pancakes. "Enjoy!" She says.
"Yum." Manoa says unenthusiastically.
"Pancake, Mimmi?" Ondina offers.
"Not hungry." She responds.
"Come on, they're your favorite." Ondina says.
"I've got to go." Was all Mimmi said before leaving for the Marine Park.
"Wanna go for a swim later?" Ondina offers.
"I'm busy." Mimmi says, walking out the doorway.
"Mimmi... I tried." Ondina says after she left.
"You can't expect a couple of pancakes to make everything all right." Manoa says.
"She could at least talk to me." Ondina says.
"You're not going back to the pod." Sirena adds, "Don't you realize how upset she is?"
"By the way, you need a lot more practice with the pancakes." Manoa adds before the two girls leave.
After a moment, Ondina went to go meet up with Jasper, who was excitedly telling her about all sorts of fun things land people do.
"Movies are great." He says, "You sit in a big dark room and watch pictures on a screen."
"Uh-huh." Ondina responds, half paying attention to what he was saying.
"And planes..." Jasper continues, "You fly through the sky higher than a bird and can go anywhere in the world."
"Right." She responds.
Soon Jasper was catching on that she wasn't listening, and decided to make something up to test his theory.
"Then there's this giant purple lizard that can fly you to the moon." He adds, but this time, she didn't respond. "Ondina?" He asks, snapping her out of her trance.
"What?" She asks.
"You haven't heard a word I've said." He tells her, "What's up?"
"Mimmi's not happy about me staying on land."
"You're not having second thoughts, are you?"
"No. Here is where I want to be."
"Good. I'm sure Mimmi will come round." Jasper says, holding Ondina closer to him.
Some time later, Mimmi and Ondina got into a fight, the latter telling Sirena and Manoa. The two mermaids hated seeing their friends fight and decided to go to the Marine Park and talk to Mimmi. When they found her at her plush cart, she appeared to be looking around for something.
