The demon in front of me ran as fast as it could but I was on its heels. I gripped the .44 revolver tightly in my hands and I raised my arms up so that I could fire the bullets at the demon. I knew that there was a human girl trapped in that body but this demon had been living in her for almost a year now. There was a chance that the girl would no longer be human herself. There was a chance that she would be a monster too, a monster that I would have to kill. The demon kept glancing over its shoulder and it widened its eyes when it saw how close I was.
I knew that the demon had some valuable information for me and I wasn't going to let it get away from me. I needed this information, I craved it. The demon skidded to a halt and opened the girl's mouth in an attempt to escape. I tackled the creature to the ground and pulled out a special dagger that I had stolen from the demon's partner. I knew that it was special because I had seen the demon use it to kill another demon. The demon beneath me struggled to get away and it opened its mouth again but I grabbed a muzzle from my belt and I placed the muzzle over its mouth.
I put my gun away and slipped my bag off of my back so that I could grab the holy water from it. The moment the demon's eyes landed on the bottle in my hands it began to struggle harder. I used all of my weight to keep the creature pinned down.
"Where is Savannah?" I demanded.
The demon laughed at me and I tipped some of the holy water into the demon's eyes causing it to scream instead.
"Must I ask you again? I promise that I won't be nice if you refuse to answer again," I said. "Where is Savannah?"
The demon didn't reply and I raised the dagger and dragged the tip gently across the demon's arm. It let out a roar.
"Okay, okay! I'll tell you what I know as long as you promise to set me free after this," the demon said.
"Sure," I said in a sugar-sweet voice.
Did it honestly think I was stupid? I would kill it like every other demon I had come across.
"Savannah is hidden in Hell," the demon said. "She hasn't emerged since she killed them. But she is planning on emerging soon though to finish off the job but we don't know when she is coming."
"Why did she kill them?" I demanded. I had to know.
"No one knows that either," the demon replied. "Now can I go?"
"Sure," I muttered.
I took the muzzle away and stabbed the demon in the chest with the dagger before it could escape. The girl's body shuddered and the demon let out a deafening scream. I ripped the dagger out and the demon went still I rose to my feet and left the area before the cops got here. I didn't want to be charged with the murder of a monster.
I found my father's old, black '69 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 X33 parked at the end of the alleyway and I slipped inside, tossing my hunting things in the passenger side. Being in this car brought back too many memories and I tried to supress them but they would always seep through. I would remember the times that my father would drive me to school in this car with Metallica or Jimi Hendrix blaring from the speakers. I would remember watching him and my mother sprint to the car as my grandmother held me in place. I remember being afraid when they left. I never knew if they were going to come home.
I took a deep breath and started the engine and took the Metallica CD out from the stereo. I couldn't deal with another flashback. I grabbed one of my CD's at random and placed it into the stereo. The sound of Billie Joe Armstrong's voice came out from the speaker and it helped soothe my worries. I glanced down at the album in my hands to see that I had chosen Green Day's American Idiot. A great choice if you asked me considering it was my favourite Green Day album.
