It's been a few days since I was reunited with my mother and little sister. Since then, I have been clean and haven't picked up my knife. Max is proud of me and told me if he sees me with a knife he will burn it with his heat breath.
So protective of me, but it shows he cares about me.
Right now, I was at Splatburger with Phoebe and Cherry.
"Uh, chicken wings, tots, onion rings, and splat!" Phoebe ordered and pressed the button on the tablet to order our food. We waited for the food to fall from the tub, but it made a weird noise and the three of us looked inside to see what was jamming it.
"Yep! We got a jam." Cherry says. "Should we get the tub sweeper?"
"Nope, it's being used by table five." I shake my head and motion over to the family who was using the sweeper to unclog their tube.
"Yeah, let's switch tables." Cherry suggests but a teenage boy our age came over.
"Maybe I can help?" He offers and Cherry smiles.
"Let's stay!"
The boy taps the tube a few times and before you know it our food splats onto table.
"Thanks." I smile at him.
"If you wanna thank me, let me buy you lunch sometime." He offers and I awkwardly shift in my seat.
"I'm taken." I tell him and his face falls.
"I'm not." Cherry smiles and winks. "And we haven't paid for this mess yet."
"Actually, we're kinda into paying for our own meals right now." Phoebe adds in.
"And their best friend. They also pay for their best friend." Cherry chimes in.
The boy nods with a sad smile. "It was nice talking to you."
I let out a small sigh as the boy leaves and both of the girls look at me. "What?"
"Recently, a lot of guys have been asking you out." Cherry tells me and I roll my eyes.
"Really? I haven't noticed." I tell her.
"Yeah, because all you can think about is Max." Phoebe tells me and I scoff.
"That's not true." I deny her with a small laugh and my phone buzzes.
"I bet it's Max." Phoebe says and I take out my phone.
"It's Max." I smile happily.
"It is Max." Cherry grins.
"He wants to talk to me. Gotta go, girls." I tell them. "See ya two later."
"But you didn't pay for your drink." Phoebe calls as I head out.
"I didn't finish it!" I call back as I walk out the doors.
"Lindsey!" I turn around and saw Max.
"Maxie!" I giggle and we hug tightly.
Ever since I've been reunited with my mother, I've been so happy lately and I'm so glad I'm back to my happy self.
"You texted me." I tell him and he kisses my check as we pull away. I noticed a can in his hands and I hang my head. "Let me guess you want me to-"
"Donate to the hover-board foundation?" He asks lifting up the can and giving me a irresistible smile.
"Max, honey, I've 'donated' five times already. You made my sister donate." I tell him and pat his cheek. "No more money from me."
