Reading the Letter from Grandpa

You have been stuck at Joja for about 5 years now.

5 years wasting away at a keyboard within your work unit. Thinking back, you barely knew the person in the unit beside you...or the one in front of you for that matter. Only nameless faces you pass in the work kitchen.

The company was definitely soulless. It's not the fault of any of the employees it was an easy paycheck to make, keeping the website updated, answering phone calls, and answering online surveys. 9-5 wasn't so bad, but once you do it day in day out without knowing who you're working for, with or what the purpose was, its bound to get boring.

One day during lunch, you catch yourself daydreaming, which is something you do a lot that seems to go unnoticed by everyone around you, You remember an envelope you received from your late Grandpa.
'What did that say again?', You think to yourself.

No matter how long you think to yourself about it, nothing comes to mind about what the letter actually said. When grandpa was still alive, letters weren't really his thing. He was definitely sentimental; he kept photos up everywhere, but you don't think you have ever seen him write anything down, especially letters.

Out of pure luck you find the letter grandpa had sent you in the top drawer of your desk while you mindlessly root through them. To be honest, you never really keep anything in your desk drawers besides dead pens, and old receipts, so finding the letter wasn't too difficult.

You can't even remember why it was in your desk drawer to begin with, maybe because it was so out of the blue that it was bound to be important. Plus you knew you'd lose it if you put it away somewhere at home.

You carefully pull it out the drawer, it's dusty where you haven't touched it in years. Before reading it, you take a quick glance out your work space to see if any of your colleagues or higher ups are watching. Luckily there are no unwanted eyes so you're free to read the letter in peace,

You take in a deep breath, then give a slow sigh as you peel open the wax stamp.

The letter reads as follows:

"Dear Kai,
If you're reading this it means you're in dire need of change.

The same thing happened to me long ago, I'd lost connections with real people. So I dropped everything and moved.

I've enclosed the address to that place, my pride and joy: My farm.

It's in Stardew valley, down on the south coast. It's a great place to start anew and meet new people.

This was my gift, that I am now handing over to you, I know you'll honour the family name, Good luck.

Love Grandpa

P.S. If Lewis is still alive, say Hi to him for me"

As you finish reading the last few words, you smile to yourself and get up from your desk, You never bring any personal belongings to work with you aside from lunch, so you have no problem getting up from your desk and simply walking out.
"I'm moving to my new home," You think happily, "No more Joja"

You navigate through the other desks until you see a straight line towards the big double exit doors

The familiar faces of unnamed coworkers stick their heads out in surprise around you as they see you pass. What seems to be a sea of eyes follow you as you grow closer to the green exit sign.

A big window covers the top half of the wall on the exit side of the building, which you are now looking at. This is so the higher ups can look down as we slave away at keyboards, making them money while we work on minimum wage. You beam proudly up at them as your steps echo through the hollow warehouse.

A nondescript man in a suit and tie, who less than a minute ago also had an obnoxiously smug smile on his face, is now bright red and fumbling at one of the windows to try and pry it open.

He just manages to push it open and stick his head out before screaming,

"Hey, You worker down there! Where do you think you're going? Get back to your desk at once!"

Your grin grows wider as your eyes don't break from the exit. You stick the letter high into the air and calmly say, loudly enough to echo around the whole building

"I'm moving. I'm going home to pack and leaving tomorrow. I don't work here anymore."

Audible gasps and giggles can be heard throughout the vicinity, nothing like this had ever been done before while you've been here. The scrambling and annoyed ramblings of the suit and tie shouting down at you can just be heard through the window as you pass underneath and finally reach the exit.

You place a full palm on the door, and push it open with all your might, It swings open all the way and you gracefully step out and let the door slam closed behind you.
