[Peter's]

I sat back in my car with a huff, slamming the door shut. I waited for about 20 seconds but the only person who followed me with an apology was Pepper.

"Peter, I'm so sorry he is the way he is.. there is honestly no way to excuse th—" she started, a worried look creasing her forehead

"Ms. Potts, it's fine. I expected as much. Apparently more people than Stark need me right now. I'll see if I can help with this great threat or whatever" I smiled at her, my hand coming up to rest on hers which was placed on my car door

"Guess I'll.. see you around then, kid?"
"You will" I replied with a laugh "Don't feel the need to apologize for Tony. He's not a kid anymore and you're not his mom"

"Just between me and you.. I did threaten to betray him after what he said to you" she whispered with a small chuckle, a hand coming up to rub at her forehead "you should definitely go through with that threat" I gave her an awkward hug and then I was on my way home

"Okay so how did it go?" Ned asked
"Terribly. All I got was a 'sorry that happened' and he tried kicking me out again"
"Maybe you should take the hint and stop running after him" Sean grumbled

"Sean! Didn't know he was there"
"And MJ" Ned said
"Great. Anyway he yelled at me—"

"He yelled at you?!" Sean asked, infuriated
"Yes and he was like 'oooh it's all to protect you'"
"Absolute bullshit" MJ said

I was nervously tapping on the wheel, my right hand massaging my temples. Tony Stark was a headache.

"And 'there is this big threat' and he tried getting me to leave and go live with Aunt May. So.. now I'm working with them whether he likes it or not."
"You're WHAT?!" Sean and MJ shouted

"It wasn't just him there, there was the winter soldier and Steve and— there was just so many people there. It's serious. I can help, I need to."

"You're not responsible for anybody's life.." Sean said, pulling the phone from Ned by the sound of it
".. I failed to save someone before. I can't just.. do nothing. Besides it's all gonna be from far away, I'll be on one of the computers, no big deal"

".. we'll talk about this when you get home" Sean grumbled before hanging up
"Sheesh okay dad.."
I know he was just worried about me, but this was bigger than me. Bigger than all of us.

By the sound of things a lot of people's lives were on the line. Innocent people. People who didn't willingly walk into it. As stupid of a decision as it was, it was a decision.

I was stupid enough to get involved with a random, very dangerous, man who showed up at my club.
These people weren't given the choice.
They didn't deserve to pay the price with their life and the life of their loved ones.

I didn't know how much I could actually help, but I will do what I can. Even if I could save the life of one person.. cause that one person has a family. Bruce has a family. Bruce was one man but to his kids he was the whole world. And I failed one world already..
