Chapter 34: A LoveQuest Story

SNT, Rookie, and Saki were face to face with a lonely, forgotten town hidden behind the mountains of CWCville. The only reason they'd gone there was civilization, as it seemed, living in the quarters. But was the place made by Chris-Chan or one of his allies?

They watched the town for a while. There seemed to be a lot of action in terms of training activities. All types of colorful characters moved around the area. It seemed like more of an army base and less of a town.

"I hope that they will be able to offer us good food," Saki said wistfully.

"Have you ever been to a base, Saki?" Rookie asked. His experience with the resistance had given him some knowlege in that regard.

"I have never joined an army to know that, really," Saki answered cluelessly.

"Yeah, the food is not going to be top notch; let's just say that," Rookie stated.

"First of all, Rookie... I'm not even sure if you did try it," SNT noted. "I was you, remember?"

"Before I joined the Sonic Team, I worked for another resistance. A good number of months passed before we accidentally met," he explained.

"I still don't understand how the Phantom Ruby combined our bodies." SNT cringed.

"The Phantom Ruby is a fucking plot device, so there's no telling what it can do," Saki added.

"Hey... who are you?"

Suddenly they were surrounded by many different characters. In front of the group was a red and black dog with black sclera and blue pupils who wore a blue hoodie and pink boots. It seemed she was leading the sub-team surrounding them.

The three of them froze in place as the opponents' guns, spears and swords were trained on them. SNT smiled and tried to use her charm. "I'm sorry for coming over here. We mean no harm. We are just looking for something to eat."

"Yeah, your little cutesy bullshit won't work on me, snowflake," the leader retorted nastily.

SNT stood there, not knowing what to do. "Um..."

"Nothing to say, huh, punk? Listen to me. We are in the middle of a war here. So we can't have people just walking in here. You must prove that you're not working for the enemy. If you don't... Death is imminent." She pointed toward a guillotine.

Saki started to rub her neck and cringe along with Rookie. They looked away in an effort not to think about it. SNT, on the other hand, stood her ground. "What do I have to do?"

"You must face the Test of Truth," the dog responded. She waved her hand and suddenly, Saki, Rookie, and SNT's shadows swallowed them up and cocooned them in darkness. "This test will bring out the truth. The real truth."

SNT opened her eyes as she floated in the dark. "Am... I in that dream again?" She remembered the dream in which she had seen her friends get sucked into a black hole. That same black hole had haunted her dreams for the past few days. Being here gave her the shivers. It was cold. She could literally see her own breath.

"What's going on?" she asked. It seemed that no one could hear her scream. "I don't like it here! Please, someone, get me out of here."

"I'll talk to you," said a voice. SNT kind of recognized it. It sounded like her, but in a slightly deeper tone.

"Who is that?" she asked.

"I'm you." The figure revealed herself. It was SNT, alright, but this SNT was missing her ponytail and was wearing purple and red metal armor. This wasn't the recognizable look SNT was used to.
