Days after breaking up with Wendy, Damon had went out to search for his true mate. He wanted to apologize for what he had done to Jace and start over. He couldn't hold back his feelings anymore. The more pain he sees in Jace's eyes, the more guilt he would feel. He couldn't do it anymore. He was in love with Jace. From the moment they started training together till now, Damon had always known that he was in love with Jace. He wasn't gay, but for sure, he was for Jace and only for Jace.

Desperately, Damon had searched for Jace, but he had not turned up for a few days. Even Jace's sister, Jessica, didn't know where he was and she was furious at Damon for even having the nerves to step up to their front door. Damon begged her, even dropped to his knees to plead for her help.

"Please! I need Jace. I never meant for him to go through all this. I just didn't want to be mated to a male and when I felt our mating bond, I panicked!"

"You panicked!? It's all your fault Jace went missing!" Jessica shouted at him angrily, holding back her angry wolf that wanted to tear him apart for hurting her brother. "Jace loved you!"

Those words seemed to have woken some sense in Damon as tears brimmed his eyes. "Please...help me..."

Jessica scowled but complied. Jace never went missing for more than a few days, and she was worried. Joining Damon, both of them searched for Jace at his favorite places; the beach and the woods beyond the perimeter.

After hours of searching, Damon had heard a gunshot. It was from the beach and fear grasped onto his heart as he turned into his sandy brown wolf. He felt something numbing on his body, but pushed it aside as Jace was his priority. Anything that happened to him was nothing as to what was happening to Jace.

Please be okay. Jace, please be okay. Damon said to himself as he raced through the woods to the beach where he found a pathway up to a cliff that he had never seen before. He followed Jace's scent and a few familiar scents as he froze to the scene before him.

It felt like he was floating on water as the sky was a light shade of blue. The water was calm, no trees, no waves or tides. It was simply just him, the water, and the sky. Jace was at peace. No drama, no pain, no Damon.

"Damon? Who's that?" Jace wondered out loud to himself. His mind was clear as a glass bottle, holding nothing in it. His memories, gone.

"Jace." a voice called out his name, making him look up from where he was floating.

Jace's eyes widen at the giant white wolf. It was one of the grand wolf spirits, one of his ancestors.

"What are you doing here?" the great wolf asked calmly.

Jace felt no threat coming from the great wolf. Surprisingly, Jace didn't feel anything. No emotions, no feeling, no nothing. Just emptiness.

"I'm not exactly sure, sir." Jace replied, bowing his head to the great wolf after getting up from the water to kneel.

"You do not belong here, Jace. Your mate needs you."

"Who is my mate, sir?" Jace asked, daring to raise his head to the great wolf. The great wolf had seemed to smile softly.

"Jace. Do you remember anything?"

Jace thought for a moment before shaking his caramel head. "No sir." Then something flashed in his head and suddenly, pain overwhelmed him. His hand covered the wound that formed at his chest.

"W-why am I bleeding?" Jace felt the pain, but did not panic.

"Jace, you need to wake up. You are dying. If you die, Damon will not forgive himself." Then the great wolf started to fade away from Jace's peaceful world.
