I did a quick clean of the house before everyone else got there, trying to get up the majority of the dirt. I managed to make the place look relatively presentable before they arrived.
"This is where you live?" Lance asked, with an expression like he was trying to hold back his surprise and disgust. Keith just nodded, casually touching my shoulder in acknowledgement of my speed cleaning efforts. I evacuated to the kitchen so as to not get in the way of whatever they were doing. I know I would have a lot to offer a team like this, but everyone seemed a bit overwhelmed already and they seemed to have things under control. I made some sandwiches for the "guys" and brought them in after they had things figured out. The whole graph thing was genius on Hunks part and I let him know.
"Thanks Kristi, but it was just luck on my part." He scratched his head and blushed. I punched him lightly on the arm and scoffed.
"Sure, buddy. Keep believing that."
Time skip brought to you by yummy sandwiches
Honestly, I wasn't that thrilled with going back into the caves. I had seen everything so many times it was just another recap for me. Everyone else seemed really excited to have figured things out, so I went along with it. We were part of the way through our adventure when I realized how intently I was clinging to Shiro.
"Oh," I stepped back from him and tried to not touch him, but then he stopped, turning to me with a smile.
"It's fine, Asuka. I've missed you too." I nearly cried hearing him use his Japanese pet name for me. My mom hadn't given me a Japanese first name because she didn't want me to feel out of place here in America, but I had desperately wanted one as a child. Shiro, who had stepped in for my absent father, heard my wish and from then on called me by my Japanese middle name: Asuka. I looped my arm in with his and leaned my head on his shoulder before going on.
Just as we caught up with the others, we managed to fall through a hole together. Apparently, Lance had done something wrong (yet again) and we were sent down into the pits of nothingness. We continued deeper into the caves before we were shocked out of our minds. The paintings of the blue lion had been a sign, because here before us now, was that very same lion.
"Wow." I breathed, not sure how I felt about my childhood fantasies coming true. If the blue lion is real, than the others must be too. I pushed that out of my mind and tried to focus on the present. Lance, who was ahead of everyone, turned back to look at us.
"Maybe we have to knock." He proceeded to do so, and, surprisingly, the force field around the lion dissipated. I laughed. Of course the lion would only respond to Lance's weirdness. Obviously, the next course of action was to climb inside it and find out what exactly it was. It seemed to be some sort of advanced fighter-style spaceship.
"Whoa." Lance sat straight up in the pilot's seat. "Did you guys hear that?" Everyone shook their heads.
"Hear what?" Keith asked. Lance struggled to find the right words.
"It's like the lion was, talking to me." We all looked at each other, confused.
"I think he's crazy," Hunk whispered to me and I grinned with wide eyes.
"You just figured that out?" He tried not to laugh and Pidge elbowed him to cut it out. All of a sudden, the lion jolted forwards, throwing everyone against the back of the small area we were in. I was pressed into Keith, lying on top of his chest. My face was inches from his and all I could think about was how firm he felt. I cleared my throat and managed to slide to the side a bit so it wasn't so awkward.
