Kate's POV
I felt the blood rushing to my cheeks as our electric guitar player, Jake, winked at me. I continued shredding on my own guitar as I sang my heart out. To my right was our bassist, Chris. Behind me, was our amazing drummer, Nick. These guys were my life, and my band. Our band wouldn't be anywhere without our fans so I loved them with all my heart, and I would do anything to make sure the Queen's Executioners were happy.
As the song finished, the roar of the crowd drummed in my ears.
"Thank you so much everyone! I love each and every one of you!" I screamed.
" HELL YEAH!" Jake added," WE COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER CROWD TO FINISH OUR TOUR!!"
"GET PUMPED FOR OUR TOUR NEXT YEAR!! TICKETS ON SALE IN A MONTH!!" Nick chimed in.
"Bye guys, you know we love you more than anything. You guys are the reason all this has happened!" Chris took a deep breath. "We made it guys," he whispered. The lights dimmed and I felt my heart pound in my chest. Our manager, Lilly, came running up to us. She wrapped me into a hug, congratulating me on the end of our first tour. She then took a deep breath and hollered, "BAND MEETING TOMORROW AT NOON. IT'S IMPORTANT, DON'T BE LATE LOSERS." I laughed and made my way home.
-THE NEXT DAY-
I wrapped my dark brown, ombré-ed hair into a teased pony tail. It traveled in soft curls down my neck. I then proceeded to lace up my combat boots and slip on my denim vest. I raced outside of my L.A. House and called Jake.
"Sup Kat, need a ride to the meeting?"
"You read my mind," I smirked.
Jake and I arrived to the meeting with Lilly 20 minutes later.
"Late, again," Lilly sighed, looking down at her watch. Nick and Chris just stared at us with a look of pity, and I knew something was up.
"What's going on Lilly?" I looked accusingly at her.
"Well you know how I said that, 'in order to get to the next level in you're careers, you need to reach a new fan base'?" Lilly asked.
"Yeah we do," Jake answered for me, wrapping his arm around my waist. We both shared a glance, knowing this could potentially hurt both of us. Nick and Chris gave us that pitiful look again.
"Okay so I'm gonna get straight to the point," Lilly sighed," Kate, are you aware of the band 5 Seconds of Summer?"
"Duh"
"And Calum Hood?"
"Yeah....?"
"Well, uhm, currently trending on Twitter is the ship name 'Katlum' which is basically like a Kate-Calum mashup name which means-"
"Yeah, I get it," I interrupted. I looked to Vincent for help explaining how this is relevant.
"Lilly and 5SOS's manager both agreed that you guys should date in order to get more fans," Chris explained.
"WHAT?! FUCK NO. Kate is not a publicity slut that you can just whore out!" Jake defended.
"NO NO NO," Lilly shrieked," they won't ACTUALLY be dating.... Just like 'pretend dating'... Kind of?"
"NO!" I shook my head, furiously.
"You will get a whole new fan base," Lilly exclaimed," think of all the lives you could change with your music."
I looked down, pondering the thought in my head.
"Fine."
