One last Chapter

Nightmare is in bed sleeping, dreaming.

He dreams about the day his mother was murdered.

I'm in the middle of town, not far from where it happened.
Toriel just walked past me, wait, she walking towards the place of her murder.

I run after her, but I keep my distance so she doesn't see me. Not like this. She can't see me like this.

I have to know.
I have to know who did it.
I must know who killed my mother.
The one person who believed in me.

Something grabs my sleeve, I turn around and see Dream?!

"Dream! What are you doing here!? Stay out of my dreams!!"

"Your having a bad dream!"

I look back around, Toriel is getting farther away.

"Let go!" I try to get my arm free, but Dream won't let go of me!

Dream sees where we are, and can tell what I'm trying to do.

"Nightmare, you don't have to know who did it. In this case, knowing isn't everything."

"You're wrong Dream! I have to know! I can see who did it! Our magic can let me see who really did it even though it's just a dream."

"I know! I know that if keep following Toriel, then you will see the face of who killed her. But if you follow Toriel, then you'll also see her death. You'll see her die."

"It's nothing new, I've seen many humans and monsters die. Including other Toriels."

"This is different and you know it. I know you don't want to see Toriel die. Seeing the face of who killed her isn't going to make you happier, you'll only get mad."

A tear runs down my cheek, my eyes water up making my vision blur.

I know he's right. But why does he have to be right?

Dream pulls me into a hug and hug back crying onto his shoulder. I'm so pathetic...

"You're not pathetic, stop thinking like that."

He rubs my back comfortingly.

"S-s-stay out of my h-head."

Dream continues to rub my back,

"Listen. I once told Ink about Toriel. We were just talking and she came up, it's not important. But Ink said 'that's unique. I've never heard of a Dreamtale timeline with Toriel being a character.'
Do you know what that means? What happened to us and the tree, was and still is, written in stone. It was always going to happen. Toriels death didn't cause any of it."

"So, it really truly was, wrong place, wrong time."

"Yes. But maybe not. Imagine how much worse things would have been, if Toriel was still alive? Remember everything that happened, and imagine Toriel right in the middle of it."

"I could have killed her. I would have killer her."

"Don't say tha-"

"But I would have! She would try to stop me, and I would kill her!"

It's true. I would.

"I'm sorry for yelling..." I say. I unknowingly change into my uncorrupt form.
It's fine, it's not the first time I've changed back. It just means I've calmed down.

I'm so tiered. Funny, it's been so long since I've been this tired. I think the last time I was this tired was when my first son was born.

I dream about that day. I never new I could ever be so happy.

And that concludes Nightmares Point of View.
