"If I told you this was only gonna hurt, if I warned you that the fire's gonna burn, would you walk in? Would you let me do it first? Do it all in the name of love. Would you let me lead you even when you're blind?" In the Name of Love, Martin Garrix ft. Bebe Rexha

"It seems like I'll have full confidence with you, Mr. Ezra Moore."

I shuffled nervously, fiddling with my fingers as my button-up suit somehow tightened around my collar, nervous sweat staying stagnant in my body as I sat in the chair across from San Antonio's most famous Lucia Bianchi. She sat calm and poise with her brown hair high up in a bun as she crossed her suit-clad legs, fixating her blue eyes on me. I felt so honored to be here and it was great enough that I had been vouched enough for that she just wanted to go ahead and get the process started.

"Yes, you will," I had to keep myself from stuttering and making a fool of myself. She seemed genuinely pleased with my attitude as she continued to talk. "As you know, I am retiring in 2019 and I would like to leave my company in good hands," She clapped her hands together, putting a little smile on her lips. I couldn't believe that this was happening, that I was literally sitting in the office of the state's most talked-about businesswoman, who everyone wanted to be because she was so successful. I couldn't grasp the fact that I was sitting in front of Lucia Bianchi, a woman I admired for my entire life.

I was so nervous and so jittery. I wondered if she could see the sweat literally dripping out of my pores. "You are so smart and so driven," Lucia flipped through my portfolio that she somehow managed to get her hands on. "You have so much experience and with you becoming the president of the business fraternity at UTSA," I nearly died when she said that. I was officially sworn in and I was going to meet every single member soon and that was extremely terrifying especially for an introvert like me.

"You'll continue to learn and grow and by the time that I am ready to leave, you will have already made the relationships necessary for your role as CEO, and you'll have the expertise and skill that I need you to have," Lucia said straight to the point, no bullshit leaving her mouth. I nodded, knees shaking like I was eighty years old and I lost my cane. "Make sure that you are ready because every single day that you come here to be trained, you will have information drilled into the very nerve of your brain," She stared straight at me. "You will be so tired and you will be so stressed and no, you will not have a back-up option because this is your all or nothing goal, Ezra," She fixed me with a stern look and I gulped, continuing to nod.

"I hire nothing but the best, and that is exactly what you'll be if you are to be my successor."

I still couldn't believe that this was really happening, that my job was just falling into my lap for me with ease. "While you are shadowing me, I will listen to some of your ideas about your own company and maybe, we can discuss merging those ideas with the way the company functions now." Lucia closed the portfolio, gazing at me and I let out a breath of relief, realizing that this was entirely too good to be true.

Yes, it was absolutely enlightening that my dream job was literally in reach of my hands, but before, I was no doubt turned away and denied requests for internships and to see that someone was willing to take me in despite never having met me or seen me work in action, it was baffling.

"Any questions?" Lucia tilted her head at me, her fair skin glowing from the light of the sun that filled the spacious room as her nails tapped against the mahogany wood of the desk. "Yes," I muttered, nodding uncertainly. This was not the time for me to be acting shy and nervous when I had to show her how it was done, how I was deserving of this role. "Not that I'm not grateful or anything because I am entirely thankful that you have decided to take me on, it's an honor," I breathed heavily, fixing my tie as she waited for me to go in. "It's just a bit odd that you knew about me way beforehand," I carefully chose the phrases and structure of my words so that it didn't come out in a way that wasn't intended.
