To put it simply, Eijiro didn't know what to think of Y/n.

By now, he had gotten a pretty good view of everyone else's personalities, even Shoji's, as he was the most secretive.

But Y/n, the quietest person in the class (and that he knew), was proving to be hard to get to know.

He couldn't deny that she/he was attractive, with silky (h/l) (h/c) hair and curious (e/c) eyes.

She/He had proven to be powerful as well, after aiding Aizawa in taking down some of the villains at USJ (much to Deku's dismay they didn't use their quirk at all, just a good strategy that involved toxic fumes. More on that later). Y/n was normally seen wearing gloves and reading a thick novel, only speaking when spoken to (and even then their answers were the bare minimum).

Basically, Y/n and Eijiro were opposites.

He didn't see himself as attractive but supposed he was good-looking on an average level.

He knew he was pretty powerful, but could barely compare to people like Y/n or Todoroki, or even Deku. He wore short-sleeves to the point of where he only made the swap to long-sleeves halfway through winter, and loved to talk, being a natural ambivert.

"Good luck, Kirishima-chan!"

He was brought out his thoughts by his friend Mina's cheerful voice.

Eijiro looked up at the beautiful pink girl. "Thanks! I'm gonna try my very best!"

She beamed and left, providing an entrance for Deku's muttering self.

"Good luck, Kirishima-san!" He grew serious. "Do me a favor and get L/n-san to show her quirk, will you? Her's is the only quirk I haven't seen yet."

Eijiro gave the freckled cinnamon roll a thumbs up and replied, "Sure! Thanks, Deku-kun!"

He nodded solemnly to his red-haired friend, like they were sharing a secret, and went to go sit down.

And then there were two.

Y/n sat at a nearby table, staring blankly into empty space. He shifted awkwardly, inwardly debating with himself whether he should wish them luck or not. Eijiro, after a minute, mustered up his courage, but they had already gotten up and were standing at the door.

He yelled, "G-good luck, L/n-san!"

Their cheeks flushed a bit (the male didn't notice though), and you nodded back to him.

This was going to be an interesting fight.

OwO

"Three!"

You tugged off your gloves.

"Two!"

He hardened his skin.

"One!"

You met eyes - burning crimson to cool (e/c).

"Start!"

Kirishima charged immediately and threw a punch to your mid-section. You swiftly dodged his attack and dragged your fingers lightly across the ground.

He continued making attempts to attack, clearly keeping his promise to a certain freckled male, but you dodged each one perfectly. You took mental note of his movements, analyzing his fighting style.

Clearly, his quirk was built for close combat, and so that was naturally what he uravitated to. His skin hardened to a rock-like state, like a human version of your crystal's capabilities. If he managed to get a hit on you even once, you knew you'd be down.

You switched the focus now to your movements.

Your quirk was meant for long-range combat, and could possibly serve for middle-range combat, but you weren't lacking in your close-combat either (yet it still was weaker than an attack from a distance away).

Every time you dodged, you always touched a few pebbles and other debris on the ground, a courtesy from Uraraka and Bakugo's earlier match.

Thanks, Uraraka.

Kirishima didn't seem to notice this, nor the fact that everything your fingers touched turned became encased in (f/c) crystals as indestructible as his hardened skin.

This was your quirk, Crystallization, and the reason behind your gloves. Everything (minus plants and animals, but for some reason, not humans) that came into contact with the pads of your fingers either became or got encased completely in rock-hard crystals. It was a dangerous quirk, as it could be used unconsciously (for example, the pile of crystalized pillows collecting dust in your closet). You were grateful it didn't work on animals, as you had a pet rabbit named Bagel back at home.

The fight was almost like a dance. Kirishima attacked in variously different ways, and you dodging and crystalizing rocks. This went on a few minutes, up until you judged you had the perfect amount of crystals for an assault.

"Brace yourself," you whispered a he went to punch your face. His eyes widened, a sign that he understood.

You controlled the tugging in your gut and summoned all the crystals up against him in one huge tidal wave. You threw him easily against the wall of the arena.

Midnight stared in confusion as to what just happened (the entire attack took 1.2 seconds total, according to your watch), as did the rest of the audience.

She quickly recovered from her state of shock. "Kirishima has been thrown out of the arena! L/n advances to the next round!"

The crowd cheered, but you frowned as you walked over to Kirishima. Victory by beating someone with the same goal as you? It never sat well with you.

You looked over to Kirishima and gasped. He was in a Kiri-sized hole in the wall, groaning in pain.

He looked up as you approached. "Shit, L/n, if you hated me you could've just outright said it."

You felt your cheeks heat up for some reason. "I dont hate you . . . I'm just bad at holding back."

His eyes widened and he teased, "So she/he does speak. Help me down, will you?"

You didn't want to waste perfectly good crystals, so you slowly lifted him out and stood him on the grass.

"You dont talk much do you? Eh, well, at least I kept my promise to Deku."

Close up, you realized he was in bad shape. You had caused him to have bruises and scrapes all over his body, and more than one bump on his head.

He met your eyes. "Do you ever wonder how many gay classmates we have? Deku and Todoroki are clear-"

Aaaaaaaaaaand he's unconscious.
