The woman pulled her sword, Alarea, out of her sheath as the men moved closer to her. Remmy, her apprentice, cowered in fear in her shadow.

"Well, it seems we meet again, Tri-"

"-n!"

Your head shot up, instantly conking your head on the table. "Ouch!"

"Are you alright?"Your friend, Geon, offered you a hand out from under the table."Jesus Christ, Y/n. You do know you're up next, right?"

Your eyes widened visibly in surprise and you pushed your glasses even further up your nose. "Wait, what? No, Tsu is still going up against Shoji! . . . Right?"

Geon rolled his eyes but wasn't annoyed. It took a lot to get him annoyed. "Y/n, that was twenty minutes ago."

"Shit!" You pushed past Geon and hurriedly out your converse back on. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit."

He laughed. "Fucking airhead . . . . You're up against Todoroki?"

You nodded and continued struggling with your shoelaces. Your friend chuckled lightly.

"Just don't mess him up too badly. Anyway, good luck! Fumi's waiting for me."He blushed lightly and waved as he left the room.

You sighed dismally as you got up to stretch. "It was just getting to the good part though . . . well, all I can do for that is to make this match quick."

After a few minutes of stretching, Todoroki came inside to take a swig of water.

You remembered the conversation between him and Deku earlier about his history. So similar to your's, yet so different.

"Hey, good luck!" You smiled sweetly at him.

He ignored you and turned away.

"You talk too much," you whispered sarcastically to cover the slight jab of hurt you felt in your heart.

OwO

You walked out of the dimly lit corridor, squinting from the sunlight. "Fuck this."

Todoroki entered the arena from the opposite side, his expression as impassive as always.

President Mic's voice echoed throughout the stadium. "All right! The match we've all been waiting for! Todoroki versus L/n, the two tied at top place! We've all seen Todoroki's quirk, HalF-cold Half-hot, but L/n has been barely using her quirk this entire festival! Can he get her to reveal it?"

You put on your poker face and exhaled lightly.

Midnight raised her tassle. "Ready, and-"

You inhaled and exhaled deeply, retaining your calm front. Todoroki let out a breath of icy air.

"START!"

Todoroki attacked instantly, as you expected him to. You swiftly sent three blades of repressed air towards the oncoming ice, shattering it completely.

Inhale. Exhale.

The crowd roared. Todoroki stepped back and sent dozens of ice shards at you, all of which you collected in a small tornado. You sent them back to attack him with ease, but he activated his left side and burned them to puddles of dirty water.

You walked closer to him calmly. "Your quirk us half ice and half fire? Both of them are very formidable elements, and when combined with a great mind? Nearly unbeatable. But-" You paused and stopped an oncoming ice attack. "my element is air.

"Air is fluid, you see, even more so than water. It's not seen as very powerful - the weakest element, even. But if one hones their skills so match air's fluidity," you created a small tornado in the palm of your hand, "air becomes the most formidable element of all. There's a reason Zeus was the king of the ancient gods, after all."

You sent him an apologetic look before blasting a massive wave of air, pushing him past the border.

"Well that's it, folks! Todoroki has been pushed out of bounds! L/n wins and advances to the final match!"

You held up your hand. "I forfeit the final match!"

Midnight approached with a puzzled expression. "But L/n, why would you want to do that?"

You walked over to Todoroki's beat up form. "I missed a really good fight scene in the book I'm reading for this. I should take this one to Recovery Girl. The sun is too bright. Do you need more reasons, 18+ hero?"

She sighed. "I suppose not. You're so boring, L/n."

You gave her a shit-eating grin. "That's me!"

OwO

You brushed your hand across the shelf, knocking all the macaroni boxes into your cart. After the first few initial beatings after the festival, your mother had gone back to ignoring your existence, but the uphill fight against the upcoming exams replaced her.

You turned up your recording of the lecture in class, memorizing it. A blur of red and white flashed in your peripheral vision, and you looked up, only to see him.

Todoroki.

The one person you had tried to avoid these past three months.

You had developed more than - er, um, what's the word - friendly feelings for him.

To put it in words the rest of the world can understand, you had fallen for the half and half male.
