Trauma

As the days went by, little by little I became accustomed to my new family. August kept ignoring me at school but not at home.

"Reigna get ready soon we'll go get some legal procedures for your staying with me." Leah announced.
I quickly changed out of my uniform and joined her in the car. There was a comfortable silence between us which was broken by a phone call. After hearing from the person on the other side Leah's mouth and eyes opened very wide as though she received some bad news. We quickly changed course.

" Where are you, where are you?"Leah kept asking.

Very soon we were at an accident scene crowded with people, lots of people, an ambulance and the police restraining a bitterly weeping boy who looked traumatized and very red from much screaming and crying. I couldn't make out what he was saying but I knew he was speaking Japanese. When I looked at Leah she was also broken down with tears streaming down her delicate face...what was going on, and what do I do now?

I pat her back and say nothing whilst looking around me. I noticed two dead bodies which were covered with white sheets and were being carried into the ambulance. Leah sniffed and wiped her tear-streaked face she walked over to the police who were handling the boy and spoke to them. After a few minutes she returned to the car with the police who put the boy in the backseat. He was calm during the drive back home and the car was quiet with deafening silence. He seemed to stare into space and looked dead except for the redness of his face. Leah called home and made August prepare a room for the boy who was coming home with us.

When we got home the boy was fast asleep. Barry and August carried him up to his room which was next to mine.

"You should all give him space." Leah said with a broken voice.
That night Leah wept bitterly as we sat by her on her bed trying to console her even though I was confused on what was going on.

"That's my best friend's son. When I was called earlier this afternoon I was told that my best friend, her husband and Levi were involved in a fatal accident and Levi was the only survivor." Leah gave out a heartbreaking cry.
I tried to say something but no words were coming out of my mouth. We console Leah till she fell asleep.

I felt so disturbed and couldn't sleep. I kept staring at the wall close to my bed. Would I ever really have a good life free from tears one day? I spotted a wooden brick that blocked a small rectangular hole in the wall that separated my room from Levi's room. What is that? Out of curiosity, I tugged at the brick carelessly and it fell on my bed revealing Levi's frail body on his bed. There he laid, so gentle but yet so terrified.

I'm not a pervert or anything but I took this opportunity to scan his face and the parts of his body that were visible to me through the little hole in the wall. His breathing was shallow and he still looked broken even in his sleep.

The redness of his face had faded away. His skin almost had no colour but he had a well defined face. Thick eyebrows that made me jealous and eyelashes that were to die for. His nose was not to thin or broad, just perfect. he had all the nice angles in all the right places. And his lips, they were full and a colour between pink and red. His hair was not so curly or spiky. I had never really looked at a boy that way before. He wasn't handsome, Levi was a beautiful boy.

I was in a trance.I kept staring so much that i forgot to sleep. He tossed in his sleep and I quickly, I fixed the wooden brick back in the wall. Whew! It would have been awkward to be caught staring like that.

..........

For two weeks, Levi only stayed in his room. He never joined us downstairs for means or anything at all. He was always served in his room. But according to Leah, he was almost fully recovered from his shock. Today was the funeral of his parents and so finally, he came out of hiding. He looked better now, dressed in his black suit but his eyes held no emotions.

He didn't even shed a single tear as his parents were being lowered into the grave. All he did was drop a black wristband with the letters LHY on the casket and moved away. That night, he joined August and Josh to play video games all night but he still never said a word. I still kept checking up on him from the hole in my room every night when he was asleep. It was more like my new routine.

Hi! How are you liking the book? Yes, I know nothing is really happening but let's just sit back and watch the ice melt. Keep reading :-).

The picture at the top is playing Halsey that is, Reigna's new friend at school. I'm posting Levi's picture in the next chapter. Trust me, his face will make your day.
