He was consumed by anxiety all of a sudden and wasn't doing the best job hiding his nerves. He didn't want to answer the question in a way that could upset Claudia; who knew what she would do to him. Although, Josh also did not want people to think they were still "dating." He couldn't wait too long to answer or people would get suspicious.
"Um, well we are not dating anymore. Things weren't working out the best but we still are friends," he replied, attaching an extremely fake grin to the end of his words. Josh could faintly see a smile flash across the girls face in the dim auditorium. Maybe she was a "Joshifer shipper," Josh definitely was. He glanced at Jen to see her reaction to find her already looking at him with a fake-scared expression on her face. He replied silently to her with the same expression. Thank goodness the interview ran out of time after that before anyone could ask questions further into that topic. The group rose from their seats and waved to the crowd as the auditorium went dark and they were escorted out.
Just as Josh was stepping his foot into the limo, Jennifer's strong hand gripped onto his upper arm so he turned around saying, "Ow," although it did not hurt him.
"I don't want to go back to my house! Claudia could get back into it just as easily as she did this morning," she hissed.
"Well I'm almost sure she is coming into my house tonight so we definitely can't stay there."
"What about Suzanne?"
"What?" Josh asked her.
"What if we could stay there; have a sleepover?" she suggested desperately. Suzanne had just gotten into the limousine. He stepped inside behind her and Jennifer followed. Once they were settled in, Josh asked Suzanne.
"Hey Suzanne, do you think maybe Jennifer and I could stay at your house tonight? It could be like a sleepover," he chuckled.
"Uh, well sure, I don't see why not. Would you guys get your things and then come over?" she asked.
"Yeah, I guess so. And we could pick up a pizza on the way over," Jen said raising her eyebrows.
"Sounds like a plan!" Suzanne exclaimed.
