Jen breathed in her favorite smell: pizza. She was sitting in Josh's car's passenger seat on her way to Suzanne Collin's.
"Do you really think she will go into your house tonight?" she asked, staring into her best friend's eyes.
"I don't even know. I'm just hoping she won't see what I said in the interview about us until I get a chance to change my locks," he replied, glancing over at her. Jennifer doubted that she hadn't seen it but she didn't think saying that would help Josh.
Josh. Her best friend. She knew that he didn't want to just be friends but she didn't know what she thought. Everyone knew they were a perfect match, including herself, but she just couldn't exactly picture them dating. He was like a brother to her. She did love him but she couldn't decide which way.
His car slowed to a stop in Suzanne's driveway. She reached for her door to open it but Josh was already there opening it for her and taking the pizza box.
"Thank you," she told him with a smile. They took the short walk up the steep driveway and through a walkway lined with bushes to her door. Josh tapped a few knocks on the door and seconds later Suzanne's husband, Charles, opened the door.

The four of them awkwardly chatted the night away until Jen resided to the couch to sleep and Josh to the floor next to her. Once Jen was sure Suzanne and Charles were asleep, she whispered, "Josh?"
"Yeah?" he replied not sounding sleepy at all.
"Come up here." She needed him there. He stood up and crawled onto the couch beside her. They laid on their sides facing each other. Josh lifted his hand up to her face and stroked her hair. Jen didn't know how she felt about Josh but she did know that she didn't want this moment to end. She leaned in closer to him and kissed his cheek lightly. She did love Josh, and her deserved it to be a romantic love, not friendly love. Josh did what he'd been waiting years to do and kissed her. His hand moved down her back pulling her in closer to him and put her arm around him.
"Jen?" he whispered after her released the kiss, not knowing what she thought about what he
His kiss triggered something inside of Jen and she replied, "I love you Josh."
He smiled and she rested his head on her chest. They loved each other- the fact that they were in the living room of their coworker and friend's house, the thought that Claudia could be breaking into either of their homes right now-
everything else melted away from their minds.
