"Really? That's great news, [Y/n]!" Alexander patted me on the back.

"Yeah, but right now you've gotta go." I said, more aggressive than I intended, "Sorry, Alex, I'll meet you at the pub in 20 minutes,"

"Okay," Alexander nodded. We snuck out of the room, then downstairs. Right as we opened the front door, I heard my father's voice.

"[Y/n]! Is that you I hear in there?" He called out from the kitchen. Thinking quickly, I shoved Alex out the door before my father came into the room.

"Hi!" I greeted him cheerfully, "Sorry, I just had to, throw some old blankets outside!" Internally, I facepalm. There is no freaking way my father would believe that.

"Really?" He cocks his head in confusion.

"Yeah, it's an old technique I learned," I said thinking fast, "If you throw cloth outside for a while, the wind dusts the material off!" I added.

"Uh, okay. Anyways, come eat breakfast with me,"

"Okay, I'll be right there!" I chuckle, waiting for my father to leave. I step outside for a moment, seeing Alex standing there.

"[Y/n]! I'm so sorry, I-" He started, his tone full of regret.

"It's, fine, I'm not in any trouble," I smile at him, he calms down.

"Oh, that's good!" Alex smiles back, "I was worried your father would punish you,"

"Don't worry, I'll meet you downtown in 20 minutes," I promised him, "See you then,"

"Yep, bye!" Alex waved at me as he started walking up the road. I studied his figure for a second before opening the front door and heading inside.

"Thank you for breakfast today!" I gave my father a hug.

"Anytime, [Y/n]. I'm off to bed, good luck at your job today!" He smiles as he ruffles my [h/c] hair. I feel a twinge of guilt at his reply.

As soon as my father leaves the room, I let out a long sigh. Well, I might as well get going to the pub. Alexander will be waiting for me. I'll miss my father terribly, but I must be on my way. I know I shouldn't leave him, but joining the revolution is an opportunity I cannot pass up. I simply must do my part to free the colonies!

I found some parchment and ink, and quickly scribbled a note for my father. It said that I had to travel to Philadelphia for work, and that I'd be back soon. I then wrote out a letter to my Aunt Rosemary asking her to care for my father. I finished up and set the note on the table, and took the letter with me.

I go into my room, and collect my journals and inks. Next, I gather a couple books. I shove the objects into a leather satchel. I put the letter in, too. Additionally, I pick out my favorite dress; I fold it up neatly and stuff it in with the other things. I don't think I'll use it anytime soon, but it reminds me of home.

I put on my cloak, and slip out the door. I run faster than usual, just wanting to see my friends again. I get to the pub pretty fast, and look around for Alexander. Instead, I see Henry. Oh shoot, I have to quit if I want to join the revolution, don't I?

"Hey, Henry. We've got to talk." I sigh, "I'm so sorry, but I've got to quit." Henry looks confused.

"What, why?" He frowns, "Was I a mean boss?"

"No, not at all! It's just, I've got to spend more time with my father, is all." I hate lying to Henry, but as I've said, fighting for freedom is more important than anything.
