Chapter 21 - The Blue Artifact

Part one of two; part two shall be posted in a few days (hopefully)

~Alex's POV~

"We need to go find them.." Sabre mutters, and everyone looks at him.

The Steve with orange looking hair nods, and I bite my lip. I don't really know why, but I don't like seeing Sabre mad like this. I just met him, and he tried to kill me; so why am I feeling worried about him..?

"Well, got any plans?" the Purple one asks, looking around at everyone else.

I step up, and they clearly didn't even remember I was here. "Which one of you guys were closer to Rainbow Steve?" I ask, looking around at them.

"Definitely not us," the solid orange one says, gesturing to the one with the orangish, firey looking hair.

"In the past, Blue Steve was the closest to Rainbow Steve, but he's with him," Purple Steve says, and looks over at the transparent looking Steve that is fully dressed in yellow. They nod as well, and I look over at Sabre.

"Rainbow Steve is my best friend, I think of all of us here, I'm the closest one to him..." Sabre says softly. "Why did you need to know that, Alex?"

"Well..." I start, taking a deep breath. "It's going to take a lot of energy out of me, but I think I can track him using you. If you're fine with it, that is," I add the last part quickly, and Sabre grins.

"Of course I wouldn't mind, I would do anything for Rainbow Steve," he says softly, and I cant't help but feel my heart sink.

Nevertheless, I nod. "I'm going to need a machine like thing that can hold you," I say softly, and he nods.

"Alright, I'll get to work on that," he says softly, and I nod. "Anything else you need me to build?"

I shake my head, seeing as I can use my powers for the rest of it. He nods, pulling out some iron blocks and then running off to make the machine.

"You better not do anything that could hurt him..." the Steve dressed in purple says to me, and I gulp. I nod though, biting my lip.

"I don't ever plan on hurting him, don't worry. I only want to help," I explain myself, and he doesn't seem convinced, but nods.

"If you do anything to hurt him, I'm sure none of us would hesitate to kill you," he says before walking off.

I kinda figured that when Sabre had a sword pressed against my neck for walking, I think silently to myself. None of the other Steve's say anything, and just walk off as well.

~Rainbow Steve's POV~

"I sense... I sense something powerful nearby, just like the amount of power and energy an artifact has," Blue Steve says, and my eyes widen.

"R-Really..?" I ask, and he nods.

"I would never lie to you, Rainbow Steve," he smiles, winking at me. I blush softly but look back over at Void Steve and Winter Steve.

"We saw some weird cave earlier with a bunch of lights in it, and Void Steve said he sensed something," Winter Steve says softly.

"Want us to take you there?" Void Steve hums, and I nod eagerly.

"Alright, well, come on," Winter Steve says quietly, walking off. Void Steve follows right by him, and I look over at Blue Steve.

"Ready to go?" he asks, smiling at me. I nod, and hand-in-hand, we follow behind them.

After about an hour of walking, my feet feel like they're going to fall off if I take anymore steps (Me in gym right there-). "Are we there yetttt?" I whine, and Blue Steve grins at me.

"You're still inpatient like before," he snickers.

We all continue walking, seeing as neither Winter Steve nor Void Steve said anything.

"We're here," Void Steve says simply, and they both turn to face me and Blue Steve.

A rather large cave seems to go down to close to bedrock, and I bite my lip. "This is it?" I ask, making sure to get clarification.

"Yep," Winter Steve reassures, and I bite my lip.

"Alright, well, ready to go in?" I ask, looking around between the three of them. Void Steve looks at Winter Steve, staying silent but their eyes clearly having a conversation

"Actually, we have to go," Void Steve says softly, his wolf-like tail swaying back and fourth.

"What? But I thought you were going to take us down here!" I explain, not wanting to go alone.

"We said we would take you here, not help you explore," Winter Steve scoffs, before walking off. Void Steve follows quickly behind, and I bite my lip before turning to face Blue Steve.

"You're not going to leave me, right?" I ask softly, and he smiles, leaning forward and planting a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"I'll never leave you alone, Rainbow Steve," he smiles more. I blush, but smile like an idiot.

"We need to head in already, before it gets dark already," I say, and he nods.

"Right," he smiles his goofy grin that makes me laugh every time, and I gently elbow him.

We both start walking down in the cave, him taking the lead since I'm too scared. "See anything?" I ask, burying my face against his jacket so I don't have to see everything scary around.

"Nothing yet," he says softly. "You know, you don't have to be so scared; you're the one who has more power than me," he hums.

"I-It's still scary and dark..." I mumble, and he smiles.

"Alright, well, I'll tell you when I see the artifact," he says, and we continue to walk.

After about another fifteen minutes, we finally stop walking, and I hesitantly look up at him. "Do you see the artifact?" I ask, and he doesn't say anything for a moment.

"Yep," he doesn't say anything else, and when I look up, I see the blue artifact on a pedestal, clearly surrounded by traps.
