It’s so irritating that every time people found out about my hidden talent they got this expression like they’ve seen a ghost. They all just stand there and stare at me like they’ve been bound under a spell or something. So, what I do is just roll my eyes and snap them back into reality. I don’t care if I’m being rude to them cause’ it’s not my fault that they are being sucked into oblivion.
“Uh! Hey there.” Say’s Maggie who drifted into the music room while I was practicing my violin. “Did I interrupt you? Sorry, I was just a bit carried away.” She explains hastily as if she will be executed to death right now. “It’s just that, the way you play..”
“Nah! Forget about it. I was about to leave anyway.” I cut her off immediately. I don’t know why but I just don’t like people complementing me in a good way. I put the violin down and hasten to pick up my school bag and reach for the door.
Maggie is my friend. Actually, my only friend. I wasn’t at all friendly, or let’s just say that I like scaring people away from me. But still, even if I’m an introvert type it doesn’t keep me from being popular. Why? The simplest explanation is because I’m a person that attracts trouble. People in my school often avoid me because they know me and what I’m capable of. But, Maggie is different. She’s always right there by my side. At first, I try to shake her off but then she insists on being my friend. I don’t know what has gotten in to her. Being ever so friendly with Lilian high’s most deadly person. Apparently, she’s friendly to everyone. She’s kind, astute, well-mannered, and has outstanding characteristics. It hasn’t been a surprise at all, that she will be elected as the President of our school’s student council even if she’s just a sophomore.
We are completely opposite. From attitude, me having an impertinent-unsophisticated-unenthusiastic-antisocial behavior and her having a passionate-kind-sophisticated-well groomed attitude. That’s right, me Miranda Olivia Barren-the great blood lust trouble maker- knew the great classy president of our schools student council. It’ll be really hard to believe that we’re friends since we got nothing in common, but look at us; somehow, we managed to pull it out and became the best of friends. Guess the cliché “Opposite attracts” is true after all.
“Anyway, Ran” Ran is my nickname. I argue about not calling me that at school since I hate it when people approach me and call me by my nickname even if we’re not that close.
I give her the look. She immediately responds “sorry, Miranda.” She say’s it with a bit of a mocking tone. I smirked at her and she continues talking “Mr. Wales informed me that he wants to speak to you about something.” Darn, that old geezer.
My mother is a really close friend of Wales. Ever since she worked at Paris as a fashion designer- she encouraged me to go with her but I can’t or not that I can’t but I just don’t want to because of my father…nahhh I don’t want to talk about it.
Well, I convinced her that I can stay here all by myself since she can’t really change my mind once I want something. She knows that I’m a pretty stubborn person like my dad. So she agrees to leave me here but with certain conditions. First, I need to have a nanny. Yes, she wants me to have one, a person who will take care of me and everything. I told her I didn’t need to. But, she counter attacks the-no-nanny-no-staying-alone thing. Can’t blame her anyway. I’m just a 4th grader when we made that deal. Second, she wants me to be enrolled in an all-girls school. I don’t care about the school I’m in as long as I’m free to do what I want. No paranoid parents and blah blah blah stuffs that a teenager hates to live with. Finally, the third rule. Well, no need to mention that. It’s just nonsense. As if I’m ever going to do that.
So, the deals’ made and she takes off to Paris boost her career in there, become famous and sends me money more than I ever really needed.
When I reach middle school, I have been involved in a lot of fights. Not with girls as you all may predict, but with boys. I don’t know why but, I just hate them. RIGHT! I’m an antisocial-man-hater freak. Well, I don’t care how much fight I’m in as long as I win. I’m stronger than them. I defeat boys who were supposed to be physically superior to girls. Must be a real wonder to you all, but it doesn’t really. It’s just that they are all a bunch of morons. All they do is attack and attack, not even calculating the opponents’ strength. And that is what made me famous.
It appears that my mother get a hold of that little information. I don’t know who turned on me. I suspect my nanny at first, but we’re like friends. She has been more of an aunt to me rather than a maid. I trust her with all my secrets, so I doubt it then.
3:34 pm
After Maggie and I talk, I noticed that she seems to be quite different today. I don’t know what it is that gives me this thought but somehow; I’m a little bit bothered.
I walk towards Mr. Wales office as Maggie told me a while ago that he wants to see me, or perhaps scold me again for getting in another trouble a while ago. It’s no big deal really. But, teachers somehow have something towards me.
I bolted through the door and there he is. A man pretty much at his 30’s wearing those square glasses. He might look good if he try to consider be dressed in something nice. My mom tried to improve his fashion but he turns the offer down. He says that he wants to be his real self and blah blah blah things that I don’t care about.
“So, what is it this time?” I asked. But, somehow I might have a clue. It must have something to do with the little scheme Darin and I come up with. We just did it to free ourselves out of boredom. It was nothing personal. “Something to do with my behavior?”.
He looks at me in a weird way. “Well, possibly.” I rose up my eyebrows showing a questioning look. “I think that you can manage to change you’re ways and improve yourself…”
Impatiently I cut him off and I say “Just get to the point.”
He clears his throat and continues “Very well, Miss Barren.”
“Sooo??” I toyed with the pen at his desk playing with it using my fingers.
“You’re mom just called me and asked me to inform you that you will be transferred to Brookwell High.”
I was so perplexed with the words that he just said. I was so shocked that I dropped the pen from my fingers and saw a hit of astonishment in Wales’ face because surely he didn’t expect the reaction on my face as I was too. I thought that I was ready for every punishment possible. It’s not like I care. But this? Didn’t see this one coming.
Well, this is what I can do for the intro now..
