It was a beautiful September day in the year of 2030. Nothing looked like it could go wrong. The sun was shining bright through my clean glass window.

"Maddy! Wake up! I made your favorite breakfast: Waffles and bacon!" Mom screamed.

"Ugh." "Coming!" I hollered.

I cleaned my bed then crawled to my bathroom and did my daily routine. Then, I rushed down to eat my waffles and bacon.

"Are you excited for your first day of school, Honey?" Mom asked.

"Mweh. I mween, I mwight not know anyone bwecause it's faw fwrom my old schoow," I said with my mouth stuffed with waffles.

"Hey! Don't worry Hon! You're as sweet as a lollipop! I'm sure you'll make tons friends that are kind like you!"

"If you say so," I said as I got up to wash my plate.

I packed up all the things that I needed for my first day of high school.

"Honey! The bus is here!"

"Ok Mom! Bye! Love you!" I screamed as I ran out the door.

"Love you too!"

I climbed aboard the gigantic bus. I looked around. "No. Is that who I think it is?! It's Jillian, my worst enemy from before! She keeps staring at me! Ugh!" I thought.

I walked past her and found an empty seat next to a random boy.

"Hey there! Are you new?" he asked.

"Umm--Yeah! My name's Madison Lambarth! N--nice to meet you!" I exclaimed with my face as red as a tomato.

"Oh! Hi! My name's Ronald Carmodge! Wow! You look pretty neat today!"

"Yea...Umm...Thanks?"

I turned away. Wait, why do I feel so shy? I mean, we just met? I looked at the pair of seats next to me. Wait, he looks familiar. Could it be him? C—could it be...MARCO CALEBS! OMG! He was my best friend back in elementary school! He lives by here now?! Wow..He looks so different. He looks so tall! He slowly turned his head towards me. I whooped around.

"Is that you, Maddy?" he asked.

I slowly turned my head back towards him.

"Umm...Hi? Who are you?" I stuttered.

"Madison Lambarth, I know it's you. I can tell. It's just like—well—you," Marco said.

I took a deep sigh.

"Yes, Marco, it's me, Maddy," I sighed.

"Ha! I knew it! So—how's life going?" he asked.

"Meh. I mean, everything's okay. A few weeks after you moved, my grandma passed away."

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! Don't worry, she's in heaven watching us right now!"

"Thanks."

We fell in complete silence. He weirdly stared at me.

"Kids! We're here! Have fun on your first day of school!" the bus driver shouted.

I walked past Jillian AGAIN. I tried avoiding her. Then, she stuck out her foot, and down I went.

I felt myself being pushed and pulled around. I heard laughing and loud footsteps. A hand reached out to me. It was Marco.

"Marco, I'm fine. I don't need your help," I said as a got up.

"I was just trying to help," he whispered.

I was greeted by a friendly old man at the door.

"Welcome to Bradley Town High!"
