"Sunpaw, we're going on patrol now!" Ashpaw said as he padded up to Sunpaw who was about to pick up a mouse from the fresh-kill-pile.
"Right now?" Sunpaw said suprised as she looked up suprised without biting into the mouse yet.
"Yeah, but you can finish your mouse first" Ashpaw told her and tilted his head a little.
Sunpaw ate the mouse really fast and sighed "Alright I can go now!"
Ashpaw looked happy and started to pad away to the warriors den to Riverpelt since he should be in there by this time. But before he could enter the den Riverpelt had already stuck his head outside the warriors den and he said something to Ashpaw. Sunpaw didn't know what they were saying but still got up and trotted away to the two toms who where standing in the entrance to the warriors den now.
"Should we go now?" Sunpaw asked them in the middle of their conversation. They both looked over to the brown tabby she-cat who was looking at them both with a confused, yet, focused look. Ashpaw nodded and started to walk away to the entrance, Riverpelt followed closely.
"Sunpaw, Ashpaw, keep in mind that the ground is much wetter than usual due to the recent rain storm" Riverpelt told the two apprentices, "and don't go near mud holes, or you could get stuck" he added.
"Got it!" Ashpaw answered.
The three BirchClan cats went on with their patrol arount the BirchClan territory until they got to around the OakClan border. Sunpaw was walking behind them and she heard a rustle near by. She stopped and smelled the air very carefully.
"There's a cat there!" She thought ans started sneaking up to the unknown cat. She stopped behind a bush to see a fluffy, yellow she-cat laying down and looking away somewhere.
Sunpaw thought it was a intruder and pounced on her. She held her down with her claws.
"Riverpelt! Ashpaw! There's an intruder here!" She yowled. Riverpelt stormed past the brambled bushes with Ashpaw close behind. Ashpaw tripped because his paw got stuck in some mud.
Riverpelt saw it and went back to help Ashpaw get up again.
Sunpaw continued to pin the yellow she-cat down on the ground, she growled to intimidate the intruder and it worked.
"P-please! Don't kill me!" The yellow she-cat yelped, Sunpaw loosened her grip a bit but not enough for her to escape. Ashpaw had just finally gotten up from the mud so he and Riverpelt was running over to Sunpaw now.
"Who are you?" Riverpelt hissed to the yellow cat.
"I'm Maddie, please I don't mean any harm, let me go!" Maddie pleaded to them, Sunpaw saw that she was trembling and decided to let her go.
"Ashpaw, get behind her so she doesn't escape!" Riverpelt told his apprentice who rushed behind Maddie.
Maddie looked scared, Sunpaw could see it in her eyes.
"Ashpaw, Riverpelt! I don't think Maddie means any harm, she looks like any other kittypet from around here" Sunpaw insisted, she saw some relief gleam in Maddie's pink eyes.
"We should take her back to BirchClan and–" Riverpelt tried to suggest but got interrupeted by someone else "What's going on here?"
