"Are you ready for today, Ashe?" I questioned the silver-haired boy as I sharpened the tip of my lance.
"Yes, this is so exciting! It's been a while since Mr. Byleth had the different houses fight against each other in a mock battle." Ashe replied excitedly and gathered some arrows into his quiver for the upcoming battle.
"You do realize that we're not actually going to kill anyone, right?" I eyed Ashe a bit suspiciously and sent a smirk his way.
"Yes of course I do, after all that's why it's called a "mock battle." I'm not stupid (Y/N)." Ashe said with a whine and let out an irritated sigh.
"I'm just teasing you!" I exclaimed and let out a laugh when I saw Ashe's nose scrunch up in annoyance.
A loud clapping sound came from somewhere, and both Ashe and I turned to face its direction.
Dimitri stood confidently in the doorway and alerted us that it was time to start.
"I have faith in you all. This is just a mock battle, but it's still a chance for us to prove our worth to the others. I only expect you all to do your best." Dimitri announced in a loud voice and earned a chorus of booming cheers from the members of the Blue Lions.
I sent a merry smile in Ashe's direction and ushered him to come along.
Ashe nodded, followed me and the others out of the room, and skipped in excitement. The sight made me giggle.
We arrived at the field, behind the monastery, momentarily and we ran to our assigned places swiftly.
I glanced around to see Dimitri in front of me, Felix to my right, Annette to my left, and Ingrid behind me. I gave them all a warm smile and a quick nod.
Ashe was nowhere to be seen though. I worriedly searched the field for him with my eyes, but halted once I heard Mr. Byleth yell out "Commence!"
I ran at full speed towards the Golden Deer house's members and attacked their leader, the one and only Claude von Riegan.
"I knew you'd be the first one to appear before me (Y/N)." Claude said and gritted his teeth as he tried to push me back with his bow.
"Of course, I just couldn't resist." I said playfully and attempted to strike him with my lance. Claude dodged and jumped a few steps back. He grabbed an arrow out of his quiver and stretched it out on his bow, while aiming for me.
"Checkmate." He said with a grin and shot. I rolled out of the way and directed my next strike right at his abdomen. The brunette swerved to left and caused me to miss.
I extended my left leg out though in-time and kicked him in his shin, forcing him to drop down to the ground in pain.
"Checkmate." I said with a smirk and aimed my lance at his torso.
"Watch out!" Someone yelled all of a sudden and I turned around to face the direction of the voice, but was met with a purple cloud of miasma instead.
I accidentally inhaled the toxic gas in and began to cough non-stop. I felt myself gradually begin to black out. Before I even knew it, I was already unconscious and in a deep slumber.

After being knocked out for who knows how long, I finally opened my eyes to find myself lying on my back and to see many different concerned faces above me.
"Oh thank goodness, she's awake!" Mercedes yelled out to notify everybody and I could hear everyone cheer in contentment and happiness.
"What happened?" I ask with a groan and rubbed my sore temples.
"I accidentally lost control of my Miasma spell, that was aimed at Caspar by the way, and ended up knocking you out. Sorry about that (Y/N), I hope you're okay." Lysithea said in a sorry tone and handed me a box of biscuits as an apology.
"It's okay, I'm still alive and kicking. That's what matters!" I said with a chuckle and happily took the biscuits from Lysithea.
"The mock battle is now over, you can head back to your room and rest." Annette said from beside me with a cherubic smile and helped me stand up.
"Thank you Annette." I responded and gave a gentle smile back. Everyone began to head towards their dorm rooms, once they saw that I was okay. One gray-haired lad was missing from the crowd though.
I peered around for Ashe but didn't see him anywhere. I let out a deep sigh. "He must've gone back already." I thought to myself and began heading back to the dorm rooms as well, with the box of biscuits in my hands.
On the way to the rooms though, I found Ashe all balled up and depressed on the ground.
"Ashe, what are you doing?" I approached him with a chuckle and stared down at him in amusement from above.
"Oh, (Y/N)! You're all right! I've been so worried that I haven't been able to sit still." The freckled boy mumbled and searched me for any wounds or cuts.
"Silly Ashe, you think a simple Miasma spell could knock me out? I'm tougher than that." I giggled and puffed my chest out as I laughed.
"This is not a laughing matter (Y/N)." Ashe suddenly said seriously and gave me a stony look. I ceased my laughter immediately.
"I panicked when I saw you lying on the ground and ran over to you right away. I thought that I had lost you. Once I had Mercedes heal you, I ran away like the coward that I am because I couldn't stand the guilt of what I had let occur. You were right there, on the same field as me, and I couldn't do a single thing. I'm a failure as a comrade and as a close person to you. I'm sorry, I bet you despise me now." Ashe said with shame and covered his face with his hands in embarrassment.
"Ashe..." I was stunned, I never knew how the silver-haired boy in front of me actually felt about me. I squatted down next to him to face him, making him look at me with dreadful eyes.
"Listen, what happened has already happened. I'm completely fine now as you can tell. What occured isn't my, your, or even Lysithea's fault okay? Don't blame yourself over this. You're not a failure, you're a lionheart, and that's why I love being around you. Your energetic personality and angelic smiles are what keep me going. It's not even possible for me to hate you, so shut up and eat this biscuit." I said with a smirk and shoved one of the biscuits, from the box that Lysithea gave me, into Ashe's mouth.
His pea green-eyes opened wide in shock and he pulled the shortbread out of his mouth.
"U-Um okay, but are you sure you're alright?" Ashe questioned me with concern-filled eyes.
"Eat the cookie Ashe." I said joyfully while giggling and grabbed a cookie for myself to eat as well.
"Fine, but just because it's you who said so." Ashe said with a doting smile and took a bite out of the biscuit in question.
I watched him eat for a bit and eventually leaned on his shoulder and took a bite out of my own biscuit.
Together, we finished the box in 3 minutes.
