(Y/N)'s POV:

Location: Unknown

"(Y/N)...what have you done?"

As I struggled to move forward with all my might, a familiar voice from nearby shrieked out the words that I had already forced myself to dispell from my mind.

I glanced ahead with dull eyes to where my dearest friend stood with tears rolling down his plump reddened cheeks and his hands cupped over his mouth in horror at my wounded form.

"Dimitri, you shouldn't be here." I huffed out with exhaustion and limped to where the blonde boy was standing.

"(Y/N)...why? You're on the verge of death! I can't lose anyone else anymore. Mama...and now you. You're all leaving me alone! I don't want to be alone. T-that's why I had to follow you here. But what I saw-"

"What you saw will never be spoken of, understand?" I cut Dimitri off by embracing his figure. Dimitri screamed with agony and buried his face in my chest as he wept.

"I'm fine. You don't have to be scared Dimitri. I will always protect you." I whispered as I caressed the little boy's hair with my small hands.

His cries echoed through the dark dungeon, reflecting off of the rigid stone walls.

I began to feel tears forming in my eyes as well. I placed my tired face in the neck of the young boy before me and sobbed quietly.

Today I had a made an oath, a promise I could never turn back on. A vow that might someday save a soul from the angel of death.

"No harm will ever come to you anymore. I promise."

Dimitri's POV:

Location: Fhirdiad, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus

"Sire, you have a visitor."

I looked up from my paperwork as one of my knights entered my chambers and delivered the message to me.

"From where?" I questioned.

"I cannot say for sure milord. The young woman calls herself the princess of Khadein, but I have no knowledge of such a place." The soldier said with a slight frown.

"Alright, I will be there." With those words, the knight took his leave and I stood up as well.

Khadein? Could it really be- no, there's no way. It has to be an imposter. She's probably dead by now.

After sprinting through the hallways of the castle to the entrance, I noticed a young woman in navy blue armor waiting for me by the doors.

The woman immediately turned to face me with a goofy grin and I could feel my hands begin to shake out of excitement.

"By the goddess, it really is you!" I shouted with a wide smile formed on my lips.

"Dimitri, it's been a while." (Y/N) said with a gentle smile as she opened her arms wide to embrace me.

I ran into her arms and lifted her up into the air. (Y/N) began to giggle as I span us around.

"A while? It's been a decade and a half! I hadn't heard a single thing from you or that mysterious kingdom of yours since the war started." I said with frustration and let out a sigh as I set (Y/N) down.
