"Daddy!"

"Dad!"

"Please wake up!"

"Daddy!" Yuzu screamed.

Yuzu's black locks wildly covered her face as more tears clouded her vision. Her face was warm and her hands were overheating but she didn't care. She cared about how cold her fathers body was getting.

"Dad!" Yuzu yelled again.

"Move kid!" A doctor yelled out.

The doctors pushed passed Yuzu and carried Yuto onto the the bed. Yuzu stared in horror as her father was losing his heartbeat and fast. Yuzu's right arm soon light up in glorious white flames as she started yelling in pain.

"Yuzu!"

Ume ran up to Yuzu and hugged her from behind and telling her soothing words. The doctors were doing everything they could to save the young father. His heartbeat got slower and slower as he finally peaked his eyes out.

His eyes weren't the usual green they were. No, they were a very dark shade of white.

"Dad-"

"Yuzu" he whispered.

Yuzu ran up to him and hugged him tightly.

"Yuzu..."

"Yes daddy? Please don't go" Yuzu whispered and cupped handfuls of his bloodied shirt.

"Yuzu...you will be...a hero one day" he whispered.

"Promise me...y-you'll be t-that hero.."

"I promise daddy. I'll be a hero" Yuzu said as her arm was no longer covered in her fire. As she looked down she noticed something. Her arm was covered in-

Yuzu woke up alarmed as sweat dropped down her face. Tears were flowing down and she gripped the sheets tightly. She stared at her right arm that was covered in bandages.

"Promise me you'll be a hero"

"Dammit.." Yuzu whispered.

She clenched her fists tightly and stared out at the pink and orange streaks of the sun through her curtains. The sun was just rising and she had two hours before she had to wake up. She turned to see Mei fast asleep with her hair covering her eyes.

Yuzu touched her but jolted back as she felt how cold her body was. Yuzu set her hand down and kept staring at the ice mover. Can I really trust you, Mei?

Yuzu was sitting on the couch staring at absolutely nothing. Her grandfather was looking at Yuzu as she was spacing out. He sighed as he's been saying the same thing over and over yet Yuzu wasn't listening.

"Yuzu" he called out.

Yuzu finally came out her trance and looked at grandfather, Yutoki.

"Yes?"

"Were you listening?"

"No" Yuzu said bluntly just over a whisper.

Yutoki sighed and stood up and grabbed Yuzu by her shoulders.

"Yuzu..I'm trying to tell you that you are going to be very useful" Yutoki says.

Yuzu looked up with her dull eyes and nodded. She didn't really care about anything now. She didn't even care for herself. She felt non existent in times like this. She could be around a million people and still feel alone. She just felt like her heart couldn't beat anymore.

"Your arm...it..you could be a hero" Yuzu's eyes widened at this.

For once her heart beat was heard in her ears. Blood rushed to her head as she looked up with hopeful eyes.

"Really?" She spoke, her voice hoarse over never speaking much anymore.

"Yes, with tons of training you'll be...perfect" Yutoki smiled proudly.

Yuzu made a crooked smile and caressed her right arm lightly.

"I can be a hero"

Yuzu was startled by the beeping of her phone and sat up instantly. She turned to find Mei not there anymore. Confused, she got up and did her routine before going outside her room. There she finds Mei sitting at the table with her mom.

Yuzu walked out and greeted them with a small glare towards Mei. Mei returned it but with more curiosity than anger. After that Yuzu and Mei walked to school together.

It was silent. Really silent actually. They haven't spoke to each other sense Mei forcing herself on Yuzu and it was rather awkward now. As they made it towards the school they met up with their friends.

"Yo!" Harumin said.

Matsuri was unusually quiet which worries Yuzu a little but didn't want to say.

They walked into the school while making small talk. They parted ways and Harumin and Yuzu walked towards their first period.

"Do you know what's wrong with Matsuri?" Yuzu asked, turning to face the brunette.

Harumin's eyes widened a bit but quickly regained herself. This seemed to be caught on by the other girl as they walked into class.

"No she's just...a little sick" Harumin lied.

Yuzu squinted her eyes. She knew Harumin was lying but let it go anyway. She kept it in the back of her mind as class started to ask what was up with the pink haired freshman. Yuzu turned and looked out the window and started zoning out.

"Yuzu! That's not how you do it!"

Yuzu fell to the floor and was breathing heavily. Tears were forming in her eyes as she was kicked in the stomach.

"Get up and be a hero! Hero's don't fucking cry you brat! Get up!" Yutoki shouted.

Yuzu coughed up blood and stood up weakly. She started to tremble as she walked towards her grandfather. Yutoki lit his hand up in his yellow fire and punched Yuzu in the gut causing her to fly backwards.

"Learn how to do it right dammit! How are you supposed to be perfect if you can't fight!"
Yutoki shouted as Yuzu started throwing up.

"Stop being weak and get up before I do it again!"

Yuzu reluctantly got up and powered up. Her white flames not as bright as they used to be. She clenched her right arm tightly as she ran up to Yutoki. She punched his stomach, hoping it would send him flying but no. Instead he picked her up by her collar.

"You weak pathetic peace of shit! You can't be a hero like this! You're weak! You'll never be a-"

"Yuzu!"

"Uhm yes Harumin?"

"Come on you've been zoning out all class we've got to outside" Yuzu stood up quickly and hurried up outside.

She turned to look at the school as she got closer and closer to the arena.

I can't be a hero can I?

...

No.

I can be a hero too.
