Levi POV

After that incident with her boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend, I made sure that (Name) had my personal phone number and I even called her every night since to check in and make sure she was doing okay. That whole thing had really put me on edge and I knew I shouldn't have been allowing it to show this much but she was an old friend that I'd had feelings for once upon a time, so she was important to me. I'd lost too many things in my life that were important to me and I couldn't lose her a second time. The first time after graduation when we'd dropped contact with each other had been all my fault. I had broken my phone and moved from my apartment and headed off to train to be a cop and never tried to contact her. I felt bad about it, but there was no making up for the lost time. I knew that much. I had to start over, or so I thought...

~~1 Month Later~~

I stretched my arms up over my head as I leaned back in my desk chair, waiting for some papers to finish printing so I could bring them to Erwin when my phone rang. I raised an eyebrow and picked up my phone from the desk in front of me, holding it to my hear after tapping the answer button. "(Name)? Everything alright?" I asked, having seen the caller ID. She hummed in response and I rested my free arm on my desk to lean on it while I listened to her speak about her day. It had been a kinda boring one laced with some crappy coworker stories but nothing sounded too out of the ordinary.

I stood to make my way over to the printer and collect the papers I'd printed out, bringing them over to Erwin's desk. He looked up at me and gave me a silent nod to dismiss me, noticing I was on the phone with someone. I swear I saw the man smile too as I turned and went back to my desk. "I'll be out of work soon. In about an hour actually. Why do you ask?" I nearly choked on the breath I'd just inhaled when she asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner, like a date kind of dinner. I glanced at my watch and nodded, mentally facepalming when I realized she couldn't see that. "Yeah, I'd like that. I'll pick you up at 8:30." She agreed and we both hung up so I could finish my work and get over to pick her up. I may have been a bit too hasty with the time I said I would pick her up, realizing I wouldn't have any time to go home and change so I would have to show up in my uniform. Though I suppose if I just left the jacket off It could pass as casual dress but still fancy enough for wherever we would go for dinner.

The second my work for the day was finished and I was certain I didn't have to stay to be on-call, I waved to Erwin and grabbed my badge, gun, and cellphone, leaving the office and getting into my car to drive to her house. My facial expression was neutral as always, if not a bit stern but on the inside butterflies fluttered around in my stomach, making me nervous about this. I hadn't been on a date in a couple of years because work kept me so busy, and on top of that, it was with an old crush of mine from high school... How could I not be nervous?

Reader POV

After I hung up with Levi I flopped back on my bed and stared at the ceiling, processing what just happened. I'd just asked him on a date... And he'd actually said yes. Well, there was no backing out now even if I was nervous as hell about it. I closed my eyes and heaved a big sigh before pushing myself up into a seated position once more. Right, time to get ready before he gets here. I've got about an hour and 15 minutes. That wasn't a lot of time to get prettied up... I hopped up from the bed and left my phone on it, walking over to my closet to open it up and dig through the dresses in there that hadn't been touched in who knows how long. I very rarely wore them since they were meant to be date outfits but Reiner and I had hardly ever gone of dates. We hadn't been that kind of couple.

It took me a half-hour just to pick out the dress I wanted to wear but I eventually decided on a peachy pink strapless dress with a chiffon overlay on the skirt of the same color. There was a white floral lace layer that came up over the bust and acted as the 'straps' for the dress. It was a bit fancier than I'd been originally planning but even if we went somewhere more casual it wouldn't be too much, hopefully... I laid it out on my bed and pick out a plain pair of cork wedges with white straps as the shoes. I placed those on the floor beside the bed then went to take a quick shower and shave.

By the time I was done with shaving, it was nearly time for Levi to show up and I panicked a bit, rushing to dry off and get dressed then blow dry my hair and put it up in a braided bun. It was a good thing I was practiced with this hairstyle otherwise it would have taken a lot longer than the fifteen minutes it did. The doorbell rang not a moment later and I jumped a little in surprise, quickly slapping on some watermelon chapstick since I had no time for makeup and made my way downstairs where my purse was. I took a deep breath, grabbing my purse and slinging it over my shoulder before opening the door for Levi.
