Levi POV

Hearing about what happened to (Name) burned me up inside and I just couldn't help myself from trying to protect her. Yes, we hadn't talked in a few years but we'd been friends from kindergarten all the way through to high school graduation. She'd been the thing that kept me in school through my 'bad boy' phase and what drove me to want to become a police officer. It may also be that for the longest time in high school, I had liked her... A lot.

Erwin parked in front of my house when we arrived and I got out of the cruiser, opening the door for (Name) so she could get out of the back. I noticed her keeping a little distance between us and I couldn't blame her after what happened just a little earlier. But it still kind of hurt. I led her up to the front door and got my keys out, opening it for her so she could go inside. I closed the door behind me and pulled out my phone to check the time.

"I've got to get back to work. There's some leftovers from last night in the fridge if you get hungry. Make yourself at home. I'll be back around 3am, so don't wait up." I told her, looking up to see her already walking off into the house to take a look around. I sighed, unsure if she'd even heard me. "(Name), I'm leaving now. Don't make a mess, I'll be back around 3." I called and got a simple 'okay' in response. I shook my head in slight amusement at her carelessness and left the house, making sure the door was locked before heading back to the cruiser.

Reader POV

After Levi left me alone in his large house I sighed heavily, not really sure what to do. I'd never been here before so I did want to explore my old friend's home but he also told me not to make a mess. I did remember him being a bit of a clean freak back in school and it seemed that little quirk had stayed with him even now. This was so strange. I never thought Levi of all people would become a cop. It did kind of make sense if I thought more about it though.

I decided that just looking around wouldn't hurt as long as I didn't touch anything that might make a mess. I started in the living room of course since I was already there. It was pretty simple, a couch and an armchair facing a large tv propped up on a wooden bookshelf that housed a bunch of movies and video games next to a gaming system. And a small coffee table in the middle of the room. My stomach started to grumble as I looked around the rest of the house so I made my way to the kitchen. I'd heard Levi say something about leftovers in the fridge...

I found the leftover chicken and rice and took it out to set the container on the counter before moving to find a plate that could be put into the microwave. I found one and plated some of the food, heating it up. As I waited for the timer on the microwave to count down, I had a look through the cupboards to see if Levi was hiding anything to make a drink with. I found a bottle of pretty crappy, cheap rum and smiled a little, taking it out and finding a cup.

I hadn't been planning to go overboard with the alcohol, but after I ate and just sat at the island in the kitchen, thinking back on what happened with Reiner, I ended up getting pretty wasted. And the next thing I knew, I was passed out on Levi's bed in nothing but one of his t-shirts and my panties.

Levi POV

I got back to my house at precisely 3am like I'd told (Name) I would and went inside after parking my car in the driveway. I didn't call out in case she was asleep but I did hang up my coat and take a look around to see where she was since I didn't spot her on the couch. I made my way to the kitchen to see if she'd eaten anything and to get myself some water to drink but froze when I noticed the bottle of rum on the counter next to a glass that had clearly been used. I immediately assumed the worst and rushed to check the bathrooms. Nothing. Not a single thing out of place and no mess to show if she'd gotten sick. I furrowed my eyebrows and went to check my bedroom next, figuring that if she hadn't gotten sick, she probably fell asleep in my room. It was the only other place to sleep aside from the couch and chair downstairs.

And sure enough, there she was laying on her back on my bed, not even covered up by the blankets. A small smile tugged at my lips at the sight of her so peacefully sleeping after what happened to her earlier. Her state of dress was also slightly amusing, one of my shirts and nothing else. I shook my head at her and walked up to the side of the bed, carefully pulling the blankets out from under her and then tucking her in so she wouldn't get cold overnight. "Sleep well," I whispered, brushing some hair away from her eyes before grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom to change. Once in my nightwear, I went back downstairs to sleep on the couch but not before leaving a cup of water and two aspirin on the bedside table for her to take in the morning in case of a nasty hangover.
