Fei's POV
Before continuing with our destination, Aang decided to make a stop at the Southern Air Temple. I have to admit that like Aang I am excited to see the temple but a hundred years have passed, for me it will be the first time but for Aang it different. I fear how he will react.
We decided to camp on a small beach. Although Sokka is always the first to sleep,he is the last to wake up.
"Wait 'till you see it, Fei. The Air Temple is one of the most beautiful places in the world". Aang said to me excited while adjusting the reins of Appa.
Katara listens to him and says, "Aang, I know you're excited but it's been a hundred years since you've been home". with a soft tone and if you listen well you can notice concern.
But Aang is too excited to realize and answer, "That's why I'm so excited!" he said with a smile.
"Aang what's Katara tries to say is that anything can happen in all that time". I said and look into his eyes with concern.
Aang says with a big smile that he understands and wants to see it for himself, then airbender graceful off of Appa. He walked towards Sokka who was still sleeping and Aang tried to wake him up, with not results. Then Aang have a idea and took a twig.
"Sokka! Wake up! There's a prickle snake in your sleeping bag!" Aang exclaimed and proceeds to pass the twig over him. What causes Sokka to wake up screaming.
"Get IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" He yelled and hopped around frantically landing in his stomach with a grunted.
Katara and I laughed.
"Great! You're awake, let's go!" Aang suggested.
◇◇◇
On the trip to the air temple I sat up front with Aang, while Katara and Sokka stay in the saddle. I look at Aang by the tail of the eye and I cannot stop thinking about how to tell him that I'm an air nomad. When I tell him that I am an air nomad will he be happy?, or, he will get angry? For not telling him when he confessed that he was the Avatar. I shake my head and leave negative thoughts off. I know that Aang will be happy to know that he is not the only air nomad. My chain of thoughts were interrupted with Sokka voice.
"Hey! Who ate all my blubbed seal jerky?" Sokka asked from behind us. Aang glaced back at him, with a face of guilt. "I used it to start the campfire".
"You what?" Sokka exclaimed in disbelief, then sighed. "No wonder the flame smelled so good".
We ascended toward a series of mountains.
"The Patola Mountain Range! We're almost there!" Aang exclaimed excitedly.
"Aang, before we get to the temple, I want to talk to you about the airbenders", I took a breath and told him a little nervously.
"What about them?" Aang asked.
I tell him nervously.
"Well, I just want you to be prepared for what you might see". I keep talking with a lump in my throat. "The Fire Nation is ruthless, they killed my parents and the mother of Katara and Sokka".
"Just because no one has seen an Airbender doesn't mean the fire nation killed them all". Aang pointed out, glacing at me. "They probably escaped".
I look at him sadly, thinking that now is the best time to tell him about my father. But I couldn't, then I give him a little smile and say, "Aang, I know it's hard to except".
"You don't understand, Fei. The only way to get to an Air Temple is on a flying bison and I doubt the Fire Nation has any flying bison". Aang assured me before petting Appa. "Right, Appa?"
